Need a little networking help please...
I've got my PC and my laptop on a Wireless-B network (11 Mbps).
I have about 20 GB of files I wanna transfer from my laptop to my PC. At 11 Mbps, it's too slow for me. I have a crossover cable and I'd much rather take advantage of the 100 Mbps rate I can get through the cable. Can I just plug my crossover cable into my PC and laptop and start transferring? Do I need to reset them first? How do I get it to ignore the wireless network and use the cable connection instead? If anyone can help me solve the problem, I can send 1 or 2 gmail invites to you or whoever you want. Thanks! |
Do you have XP? If so, you can just network the computers together via your control panel.
I did this with my desktop upstairs and the one in the basement. I had someone giving me step by step instructions because I have no technical abilities, but apparently it's very easy through XP :) Microsoft's website will probably explain it. |
If you are on Win XP then connect them and start the network guide, they will take 5 sec to find eachother and you are in business...:thumbsup
