I was so stupid to do this on 3 computers at one time.
Now nothing, I repeat NOTHING is working anymore!!
No McAfee, no ICQ, no Windows Update, No Start button, no Toolbar

Fuck you M$ ! Why do I pay for this crap !? :321GFY

MaDalton 09-01-2004 03:43 PM

Fabuleux 09-01-2004 03:44 PM

Windows 2000 Professional 4 Life :2 cents:

(b.t.w. you should read SP2's release notes and config your firewall)

B40 09-01-2004 03:44 PM

I've had the update thing in the task bar for awhile, but I'm holding off.

wdsguy 09-01-2004 03:44 PM

fucked up my roomies computer too

PersianKitty 09-01-2004 03:47 PM

Installed it last Wednesday on my laptop (desktop runs on Win2K). No proplems at all. Had to tweak the wireless settings a bit, but that was it.

Had me worried cause I needed the laptop for Vegas, but all was fine. McAfee, email, browsers, and the like.

loverboy 09-01-2004 03:47 PM

same words i told myself when Microsoft released the patch since day one.

best advise, give it 2 months max before you install

Doctor Dre 09-01-2004 03:47 PM

You should have read the 6 pages of software that don't work anymore :P

FreeOnes 09-01-2004 03:48 PM

No Services (under Administrative Tools) at all are being started.
Seems like therefore nothing is working anymore. Anyone has had this problem too and knows how to solve it ?

Some programs seem to stop working after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2

(842242) - Discusses the behavior that occurs because Windows Firewall is turned on by default and blocks unsolicited programs. To make an exception for a program to run, add it to the exceptions list in Windows Firewall. Alternatively, you can open a port.

Damn, if you even pay for this, your situation sucks... Send Microsoft a feedback or something. They always say they always respect their clients.... or do they?....

MarcWomack 09-01-2004 03:57 PM

Shit, I must just be lucky. I've installed it 3 times w/o any problems. McAfee did pop-up complaining that XP's new Security Center was trying to take over so I told McAfee to keep handling that functionality. All apps working, no crashing, nothing.

Mr-No 09-01-2004 03:59 PM

Well, I can't agree with you...
Two comp's and everything works more than fine...

Icq - works, live update - works, of course there are start and toolbar(s)...
Only one problem - Vegas 4 doens't want to start, after re-installation (of Vegas) everything is ok...

KRL 09-01-2004 04:00 PM

From the official stats surveyed by major corporations that have installed SP2 on a large scale, they've determined 90% have a smooth install or minor problems, but 10% are experiencing complete problems afterwards. So its about 1 out of 10 getting fucked up. From a Q&A standpoint that is attrocious.

Lange 09-01-2004 04:04 PM

I'm hitting 50%. One PC is running smooth with SP2. However, the other PC hated it. All kinds of problems. So, I removed it and everything is back to normal.

And on another note, has anyone figured out a code to beat the SP2 pop up blocker?

RicardoB 09-01-2004 04:08 PM

I don't plan on installing it at all.

I might switch to linux permanently though :)

only on my latop which is slow like hell and uses the Home version it went well. 2 Other pc's are totally fucked up now. Very nice for my employees tomorrow. This is gonna be a terrible short night again. I even can't uninstall any programs because all services don't start when windows starts. No fucking chance to uninstall SP2. Not even in Safe Mode.

Laptop - Intel P4 2.8GHz, 512MB
Desktop - Intel P4 3.06GHz, 1GB

Both from XP Corporate SP1 to XP Corporate SP2, and as I said only Vegas (on both machines) had problem to start. On desktop I re-installed Vegas 4, on laptop he starts after "debug", I'm too lazy to re-install him on laptop so everytime when I start prog I need to "debug" him in order to start... And one more thing, in both cases OS is installed on NTFS...

jukeboxfrank 09-01-2004 05:23 PM

Installed on 17 Pc'so far not one problem. They run even better than before.

Mike Panic 09-01-2004 05:37 PM

Mr. Mojo Risin 09-01-2004 05:38 PM

woj 09-01-2004 05:51 PM

The Truth Hurts 09-01-2004 05:58 PM

no problems here now.

only software I had any problems with was Nero and Norton...
both were fixed within 2 minutes with their updates.

Halo18 09-01-2004 05:59 PM

No issues here.

4Pics 09-01-2004 06:01 PM

worked great on one pc, shitty on another...

Yahoo's tools seem to fuck it up badly and so does norton

fris 09-01-2004 06:06 PM

ms is making some fixes to sp2, yes its not wise to install :)

mardigras 09-01-2004 06:12 PM

Never install stuff that isn't on Windows Update for at least a week. Anything else is just beta testing:glugglug

FreeOnes 09-01-2004 06:15 PM

There was an error with Userunit.exe . This had to do woth file permission settings on the C drive. After I changed the settings to Everyone (full access) windows was working again. Very strange because WinXP was working without any problems with the settings which I had before. :321GFY
