Hard Drive Crashed. Who are the best data recovery companies??

We have a shitload of data on two external hard drives that went bad during a power surge. Some of the material is backed up and some of the newer stuff is not.

We will need to send the drives out to a data recovery company.
Can anyone recommend a very good data recovery company?

We are particularly looking for a company that has a track record of recovering hardcore adult content --- companies that gfy members might have used before . We dont want to send these drives to a company that might freak out seeing 400 gigs of adult videos and images, and then do a half ass job of recovering our shit.

Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is the hard drive still working?

If so - PC Inspector File Recovery can help.

every try runing that

its good if you have 100mb of data on your drive or else it will do more damage then good

thanks for the responses so far.

it looks and sounds like the damage to each of the drives is structural, so neither drive is really usable right now

we've got loud clicking noises in both drives. both drives are Maxtor Drives. I heard that Maxtor drives have failed a lot of people so we will be going with a new brand on the next external drives along with strengthening all of our back up procedures.

the icons for the drives are not showing up in the "My Computer" window

I did - was a 140GB drive - it wasn't in the most orderly fashion when it finished, but I got the vital content that I needed.

you know that data recovery companies can charge you up to 4,000$ for these two drives ;)

I've had 4 hard drive failures in the last couple weeks due to firewire shit... I've used a software by runtime.org

worked every time

getdataback it was called
