gfy needs a holding pen
for all posters under 1k..they can read the main forum but can only post or post on a topic about the main page in the holding pen
|
Theyd never get to 1k posts that way. I think 1k is a bit extreme. The lamers usually have less then 50 posts.
|
Call me a lamer then. Why the fuck do you guys all pretend that you started out with 4000 posts?
|
Yeah that would cut down on the BS around here
|
It's too easy to get 1000 posts if you're a troll. You'd be cutting out a lot of people who only post when they have something meaningful to say.
Bad idea. http://gothvirgin.com/images/gfy/thumbsdown.gif |
I think more than half of the bullshit on GFY is from people with 4k+ posts :glugglug

The more things change the more they stay the same.
"Old timers" have bitched about "noobs" since I was a newbie. And while 90% of the newbs will be gone in the blink of an eye, anyone who thinks they can't learn something from everyone, even the guy who just started today, is not going to make it to "old timer". |
Bullshit!

a) Don't live my life on this fucking board, and b) Try to say intelligent things when I do post, or c) Try to say funny things when my brain is jell-o. Trying to marginalize the low posters is going to have the opposite effect of what you want, assuming that what you want is less lameness. :2 cents: |
I think they should make it so you can't start a new thread until you hit like 500 or 1000 posts.
That way these guys that want to make an ass out of themselves can't clutter up the front page until they have spent some time posting. THEN when those nicks get banned for being an ass hat it actually HURTS them or wastes their time anyways. Think of how this would stop LC for instance. |

bingo. And to clarify this is not for the low posters, but for the professional sig whores |

Its not the number of posts that count...

And dont forget, that ther are 17 year olds that know more about computers and the internet than some of the old timers. |
All the useless posts I've seen have been started by people with post counts way over 1000. What's in a post count anyway? Just because someone does or doesn't post every 5 minutes doesn't make them good or bad. It's pretty easy to figure out which poster is an idiot, and which isn't.
The meaningful posts, or requests for serious help, slip off the first page in 5 seconds around here, and the entire first page is full of BS. Since this is one of the biggest adult webmaster boards, it really makes me wonder how mature the leaders in this industry really are. If you think about it, it wouldn't take anything for some reporter to come in here, browse around for 5 minutes, and do a story on how intellectually challenged the adult industry is. All we need is more bad press. Even though I've been in adult since 98, I've only been here a short time and am one of the n00b's on GFY. I know my thoughts don't mean shit, but *if* they did, I'd say ban the idiots on sight, if they throw out 10 idiotic posts within a certain amount of time, then get ride of them. And ban the surfers on the first post, that shit is ridiculous. my :2 cents: |
Hmmm... how about this then... a limit to the number of topics addable per day, based on how long someone has had an account?
Say, something like 1 topic added per day for every month you've been a member of GFY, to a maximum of, say, 4 (with more for the peeps that've proven they're not asshats, or pony up the bling to buy the privilage). Gives some cushion against the spammers and llamas, leaves flexability for the legacy posters who've always enjoyed unfettered topic addition, and automated enough not to require constant poking by admins. |
