So you guys remember the kids who always Sucked at kickball/baseball in school?
you know, the ones that just sucked and no one wanted on their team, the guys usually stuck out in right field and batted last.
i think that correlation can be drawn towards webmasters, too. me, right now, i'm probably a left fielder in that regard, i have potential through the sites i've been working on the past 8 months which aren't quite complete yet.. but i intend to be the pitcher, as i once was in baseball :winkwink: as athleticism is the determining factor of a person's skill being an athlete, what is it that determines a person's chances of being a successful webmaster? obviously a certain degree of intelligence is needed, but i think most importantly (and this is probably universal in most things in life), motivation and drive is the key. but can a person succeed on minimal intelligence and strong drive alone? or does it require something else, something nearly genetic like a good business sense? can a strong sense of business really be learned? discuss :winkwink: |
Nobody wants to play with me. :(

yeah luck
|
Some of the stupidest people on this board are the most successful. Of course most of the morons are broke and a lot of the intelligent ones are broke too.
Sorry, this proves nothing. |
i am proud to admit i was one of those kids picked in the lower half for sports
i was an uncoordinated piece of shit in my younger years i played football in high school but i was nothing stellar however most (but obviously not all) of those guys who were good at sports are probably now doing landscape work so fuck them i forgot my moral: everyone is good at something if ur not good at anything then try landscaping |
Yeah all the jocks I knew are mostly sales guys at computer stores now. :1orglaugh

I got picked near the top for soccer I was a great goalie I still regret I didnīt pursue it instead of spending my time on partying :(

No one wanted to play me either, I was the shortest and smallest one in school, and I was always afraid of the ball. Whenever someone threw the ball at me I would run :( :helpme
because I didn't want to get hit in the face! I had a bad childhood :( |

IMO, it comes down to 3 basic things.
Good Business Sense, Connections and Follow Through |
The kids like that when I went to school are now high power lawyers, computer millionaires, and CFOs of major corporations :)
Sometimes finding your niche outside the field can be very beneficial :thumbsup |
Actually I excelled at sports, was very popular in school, etc.
Your generalization is just that, a generalization. :thumbsup |
