Does Google now penalize adult sites with PICs meta tags?

Has this been this way for a while and I just finally caught on. I did a quick sampling of top sites listed on my adult related keywords and the top positions are going to sites with out the PICS tags identifying the sites as adult. If this is true, this is so wrong!

Noticed that google hit me hard this week.

Need to do a bigger sampling I guess. Haven't been to the SEO boards in awhile. Guess its time.

Comments?

The Q will lead to some emails to google and icra of course. You're right on getting an answer even then. Checking the major player sites now.

The thread has attracted all kinds of attention :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Google seems all screwed up. Like that would be a new topic.

I have a webcam archive site that has all the PICS/ICRA flags set (since the source of the images is uncontrolled), google still displays it on the first page for several terms.

Setting the family filter to "strict" removes it from the results, but "moderate" and "none" still show it.

Rumor is google doesn't look at them for the most part. Was trying to follow W3C and also do the right thing with the pics.

Have to change something to get the SERPs back.

Maybe WG will call google and put the fix in for me :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Hear he has connections.

concentrate on your content, metas mean fuck all compared to giving good content for google bot to chew on

More than understatement. Makes a big difference to the bottom line. Many say get traffic from other sources, buy traffic etc. - NOT the same.
