Having hard time deciding between 36" Sony WEGA flat CRT and plasma or LCD 36"... the latter is 33% more expensive... |
50" Grand WEGA LCD Rear Projection HDTV Monitor

Go for plasma it's almost better in every facit.
|
If you have a good distance between your divan :) and TV spot then plazma is the only way.
But for a night movie watch there is nothing that can beat good projector. Damn its so cool to watch movies on it! |
I've heard DLP is the way to go, but haven't looked into it myself yet.
|
I have a 17" dell LCD TV that went bad after only a few months. Dell had great service though and replaced without any question.

parents just bought a new plasma, gets here on wednesday so ill be able to tell ya how good it looks :p

55 inch Sony XBR plasma the day it arrived:
http://catalog.com/uvlight/images/sony.jpg i've owned this plasma for a couple of months now, and have found it to be absolutely perfect for watching films. i have a high fidelity Rotel http://rotel.com home theatre system hooked up to it, and a custom cabinet being built to house all the components. overall i'm very happy with my decision to go plasma. i also installed a 27 inch LCD on a swing arm in my master bedroom, perfect for surfing the web from bed. |
Some nifty info... :)
Plasma. Contrast. Advantage: Plasma. For scenes with a lot of dark and light images shown simultaneously-as with content originating from DVDs, video games, and NTSC TV signals-plasma TVs will consistently outperform LCD TVs. COLOR SATURATION Advantage: Plasma, with the following caveat: While plasma displays are especially good for moving images, LCD technology is better at displaying static images with particular crispness and even coloration. VIEWING ANGLE Advantage: Plasma Plasma manufacturers have made much of their 160° viewing angles, which is about as good as horizontal and vertical viewing angles get. This owes to the fact that each pixel is lit by itself, not from some central light source. Hence, each pixel is more readily visible because its brightness is consistent with every other pixel on the screen. VIDEO PLAYBACK Advantage: Plasma PRODUCTION SIZE & COST Advantage: Advantage: Plasma. Even though production costs and retails prices have come down for both technologies, plasma still has the edge as far as production cost and capacity go. LCD. FUNCTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS "Computer use" Advantage: LCD, except at "harsh" viewing angles LONGEVITY Advantage LCD X2 SCREEN INTEGRITY Advantage: LCD VOLTAGE REQUIREMENTS Advantage LCD X2 |
Got a 43" Plasme in my bed room... the thing isn't THAT GOOD... I would go with a nice big screen LCD.

cute tvs . .i dont want to know the price
|
Plasma is cheaper. LCD gives better picture. Plasma "burns" the "TV channel logos" and will then have a mark for life. LCD does not.
