That happened alot when ANdrew hit Florida. People that had insurance and got paid back from them wanted FEMA to also pay what their house was worth.

It actually happened for a few people. One guy walked with like 200k from Allstate, and Fema.

Fema paid first, and then all state paid like 30 days later.

Why give money to people anyway? Why can't people just have things like insurance and some savings in case of emergencies.

Anyone who stands in line for handouts is pathetic.

FEMA, which provides financial support for the uninsured and underinsured in the aftermath of major disasters, says it has written nearly 42,000 checks worth more than $68 million to victims since Hurricane Charley nailed southwest Florida on Aug. 13.
The guy had insurance.

Everyone always expects something from the government. I wonder how many people realize where that money comes from. Want want want, need need need, taxes suck I don't want to pay them.

Peaches 08-29-2004 05:35 PM

I'm sure it's all based on calculations that are sitting in a big FEMA computer.

He had insurance and it seems he wasn't due ANYHING (funny how he seemed to be expecting a check that was hundreds or thousands of dollars when in fact he wasn't entitled to it.

FEMA should probably put something in their system where they don't pay claims/mail out under a certain dollar amount. But then you'd probably have idiots bitching they were due $1.69 and never got a check.......:winkwink:

"I know $1.69 sounds ridiculous, but if the guy seems entitled to it, we're going to cut the check," said Butch Ducote, a FEMA spokesman.
ROFL ... that's so gay
