Geo-filtering.. the basics
Just wanting to know what is involved to filter some traffic. I have a site that is in english only, but I have a sponsor with a japanese tour for a paysite. How can I send all traffic to the page and only .jp to the japanese tour?
Can you use htaccess? |
It depends.
You can use a third party service to map a user's IP-address to a country, and even cities. MaxMind has great such service. You could also use the browser's settings to detect what language the browser is using. This will be possible with .htaccess |
Here's a page with the htaccess code you need to filter your traffic by browser language - http://www.webpimps.com/scripts/htaccess/
There's a bunch of other cool things there as well such as hotlink protecting your images, cookie password protection, and how to redirect traffic without cookies turned on. :winkwink: |

What japanese paysite are you using? If you don't mind telling.
