Actually the US Native population isn't as small as you'd think it is.

My tribe located in Northern California has over 4000 members, we are the largest tribe in California. We are a self supporting tribe, with many businesses owned by the tribe, we have our own communities, government etc. The Cherokee Nation is probably the largest tribe in the US, with several bands scattered across the US, some in OK, some in NC, and some in TN.

The alcoholism among natives is no worse than it is with whites, blacks or browns. I'm afraid anyone thinking that all Native Americans are nothing but turquoise laden drunks is grossly mistaken.

I am part Cherokee. Cherokee is the largest because it accepts anyone with even a drop of Cherokee blood, where as most of the Indian nations require a quarter.
