index.php help
 
can anyone tell me why, when i name my index to index.php, it doesnt format the page as html, in other words its just text. links dont work or things like that.

I take the same page and name it .html and links work, but of course then the php stuff doesnt

I don't know about php.

But one time I wasted a hour on a similar problem with a .cgi page. It was because I didnt define content type

add this line to your .htaccess to parse the .html file as PHP:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html





or is that for the other way around? hmmm . . .not sure now

can i just put that in httpd.conf? I dont use htaccess

I don't want to steer you wrong, I am going by notes . . . and I am even having second thoughts about the info I gave you. I think that might make an html file function as a PHP file

wll now it does the same thing named html as it did named php

Do you have other php scripts running on the same account?

I'd first check to make sure your script starts with <?php

I have the same problem with firefox with asp.

If there is no asp code in your page it will do that .
