Great Quality.

Dell is good too but there's a good chance you'd have to reinstall the OS. Once that's done, it's pretty solid.

sacX 08-29-2004 03:34 AM

i have one, very satisfied.

Babagirls 08-29-2004 03:37 AM

adultentertainment 08-29-2004 03:41 AM

STOP!!!

Just don't buy open box...other than that...i've heard pretty good things...

The Other Steve 08-29-2004 03:46 AM

Yep - I've got one that works well - even after I poured half a glass of port into the keyboard.

Marie had one too that worked solidly right through it's lease period.

EviLGuY 08-29-2004 03:48 AM

Seems its fairly unanimous. I've had mine for 4 years now. Its mostly my girlfriend's computer now.. no problems except the harddrive decided to break a while ago. A new , much bigger one set me back about 100 bucks.. not bad for 4 years use.

Platinumpimp 08-29-2004 03:49 AM

Go Dell, you can't go wrong, exceptions there ofcourse. :thumbsup

Vitasoy 08-29-2004 03:55 AM

I haven't heard anything bad with them... but I perfer dell :p

Fukeneh 08-29-2004 03:56 AM

i have one and i love it.

SGS 08-29-2004 04:01 AM

We are now all Toshiba and Samsung and we are very happy. Samsung's very light and the Toshiba's are very tough which is really very important with laptops.

awesome!

sounds like everyone in this thread is crazy about the quality of them.

which, as you said, is important with a lappy :)

thanks! :thumbsup

I have two toshiba's. one laptop, other tabletpc and they sure are the sturdiest notebooks i've ever used. And the next one will be, too, Toshiba for me. Toshiba is not just some plastic casing, some silicon and leds put together IMHO. Most of the ingredients are nicely selected piece of hardware not just cheap chinese crap. I am not against the cheap and if I have the money why go and make a weak choice? Would you choose glass or diamonds?

mrsexkey 08-29-2004 05:33 AM

I don`t know how much you have to spend, but this is the latest and greatest. You can`t even get them in the US. These are all imports from Japan. This is the new version of the one I have, complete with a fingerprint scanner.

Dell sucks, ours stopped working after a few months (we didn't screw it up, some hardware faults). It tooks us like 4-5 fucking months to get our money back :321GFY

Never again.

Very pleased with Toshiba's laptops. I'm working on a Tecra S1 right now and it's great. Not to mention the kick ass battery time of something like 4 hours.

I've never had so much battery time in a laptop before. Might have something to do with the fact that it is only a few months old and the battery loses effect over time.

LadyMischief 08-29-2004 07:31 AM

We have several Toshiba Satellites and they kick ass. The keyboards have a bad track record though, might wanna get an extended warrenty on it.. they aren't overly expensive to replace though.

cayne 08-29-2004 07:35 AM

yeah, heard a lot of good things...they seem to be good.

adrenalinedef 08-29-2004 07:36 AM

I bought a $3,000 Toshiba Satelite from CompUSA, 30 days later it stopped turning on. I took it back to CompUSA with my 1 year factory warrenty and my extended 3 year warrenty I bought for $129 and they refused to fix it because the a sticker had been taken off the bottom of the laptop, which I didnt do, it was already like that. I had the box, reciepe and everything. I got fucked bad.

nastyking 08-29-2004 07:48 AM

Manowar 08-29-2004 07:52 AM

apple make better laptops.

weirdharold 08-29-2004 07:58 AM

I have one and have nothing but praise for it... I would not sell it for what I bought it new for and it is now two years old

Paul Waters 08-29-2004 09:06 AM

I am pretty happy.

But I had to remove the keyboard to boost the ram.......

peter_mansion 08-29-2004 09:18 AM

If you are in Europe, DO NOT buy Toshiba, it sucks. I think there is differnce between US and EU editions. Get HP :-)

Doctor Dre 08-29-2004 02:26 PM

Get a HP or Sony one :P

volante 08-29-2004 02:32 PM

Way back before Dell went direct only, I used to sell computers. Toshiba and Dell were easily the best :thumbsup

I bought my Toshiba in europe, and rocks for me.

Adent007 08-29-2004 02:41 PM

I own a small computer shop and we sell toshiba, hp, and sony as well as a few barebones brands (msi, supertalent, etc) toshiba are by far the best, we have had much fewer repairs on them better support from the manufacturer, and more bang for the buck

we have had a very high fail rate on HP, sony in the middle but sony support has been poor and they are priced very high. on the positive for HP we have had great support from them...better than toshiba even (just needed less with toshiba than HP)

we obviously dont sell dell but our repair customers have been hit or miss with them....either great machines or total crap....and even with the same model so if you feel lucky buy a dell ;) just not one of the cheap ones, support has been the same....sometimes spot on other times they've taken forever to make things right

Samantha_xox2000 08-29-2004 02:45 PM

Toshiba will completely replace your pc. Good one :thumbsup

I've been very pleased with my Toshiba as well.

RevSand 08-29-2004 03:32 PM

I deal with toshiba laptops all day for my day job... DO NOT, DO NOT get a 6100! They have ALOT of troubles, including a recall on the motherboards and overheating issues.. Other Sat Pros are better... I also would suggest looking into a Tecra M2... Thats what i am using now and it runs great.

kamasutrababe 08-29-2004 03:59 PM

Take a look at the Fujitsu N5010. I've had mine for two months and am quite satisfied. It's got the nicest screen I've seen on a laptop (although still not as good as my desktop LCD).

Floridiot 08-29-2004 04:00 PM

they're grrrrrrreat

We had a plumbing leak directly over my desk and my Toshiba Satellite got flooded (top down thank God). I dried it off and unscrewed and opened everything that would open, let it dry out for a day, booted it up, and boom it was fine. I'm typing on it right now!
