The hype for sigs isnt exactly over they are recognised with a place in the webmaster market more a case of less flash cash this month in general.

People don't buy sigs because they are not worth buying. For what most people are asking, I can get a quality spot on a high traffic site. I'll get a lot more traffic from doing that than I ever would from buying someone's GFY sig.
