How well do you retain?

Hi guys. I've always wondered what is good retention from month 1 to month 2 on non trial sites. We charge $19.95 and retain 43% of our members from initial signup to month 2 (we have no trials). Our retention has been between 41% and 43% month in and month out for 3 years now. What about you guys? Quiet how is yours? :Graucho

johndoebob 08-28-2004 05:46 PM

How much chargeback percents do you have and within what kind of time period? The chargebacks at my rev share sponsors are mostly made within a week.

Shap 08-28-2004 05:48 PM

Our chargeback ratio is currently 0.19% No wonder ibill was so nice to us :Graucho

Paraskass 08-28-2004 05:52 PM

I retain not bad.
Normally I have to piss once or twice a day.

Maybe 3.

bigdog 08-28-2004 06:00 PM

what is your average conversion with tgp with the monthly membership?

Shap 08-28-2004 06:03 PM

For the last three months our hosted galleries have converted at 1:540. I really don't know if that is good or bad. I've always heard people claim to convert 1:70 or 1:250 or whatever. Ours is 1:540 and that is on actual hits sent (not counting 2nd page in etc).

i would think thats not bad since you hosted galleries proably have a higher then average clickthrough

Shap 08-28-2004 06:08 PM

:thumbsup I hope it's good. We usually spend alot of time on our galleries. Instead of pounding out gallery after gallery that doesn't convert we take the time to make sure each and every gallery is fine tuned to convert like crazy. Every detail counts, the wording on the gallery, the thumbnails, the image selection etc.

1:70 is only possible through 2nd page hits, luck on less traffic or simply a lie. Also many sponsors count only half of the clicks or less and you never know whats really counted. 1:540 is totally ok, with ccBill you can get easily over 1:1000.

It's sad most sponsor don't do that. Most of the sponsor hosted galleries look like shit

Shap 08-28-2004 06:47 PM

It's the common Quantity over Quality mindset. It's surprising because it is your one chance to grab the surfer's attention. Why waste it with an ugly gallery that has terrible thumbs?

Shap doesn't need to check other people's galleries, in fact, not to take anything away from braincash (they rock) but they probably took some tips from shap's galleries over the years LOL

he the king ;)

Shap 08-28-2004 08:35 PM

Thanks Bro :thumbsup

Tala 08-28-2004 08:37 PM

I retain like a bitch...but so does the Hoover dam. :(

J.R. 08-28-2004 08:38 PM

Shap..

we are about the same, up and down at times
but very consistent.

bigdog 08-28-2004 09:21 PM

Shap have you tried charging $29.99 to see if it affects conversions?

SixNine 08-28-2004 09:26 PM

Shap,
Speaking of retain...
Do you still run sexape.com?

I was digging through all of our returned
checks and... you might want to get in touch with me regarding an incorrect address.:):drinkup :GFYBand :rasta :thumbsup

Shap 08-28-2004 09:31 PM

Hey dude. Yep that's us. How do i contact you?

Steve 08-28-2004 09:38 PM

Shap's stuff rocks. I have GOT to get your stuff into the new perm database ASAP.

The man knows how to sell on galleries. His hosted stuff is top notch.

Shap 08-28-2004 09:39 PM

Thanks Steve ;)

Hey Sixnine I just checked you are right, the second line of our address is missing. I'm going to drop you an email tomorrow to get this fixed.

Shap 08-29-2004 01:12 PM

I'm surprised that not more people responded to this. Everybody is willing to post their affiliates #s but not their retention.

TheWildcard 08-29-2004 01:13 PM

no

1:500 is about avg, but it depends on ctr. so what really matters is sign ups per gallery impressions.

because most sites suck or charge too much, so their retention is horrible

Shap 08-29-2004 01:27 PM

I agree 100%. That is a number I watch closely. Our click thru around 3% and our sales per hits to the gallery is 1 sale per 17,000 hits to the gallery.

thats a good number, under 1:25k is above avg with under 1:5k being cash cow.

Shap 08-29-2004 01:36 PM

Yeah I hear you FlyingIguana. Our site isn't geared to bang out sales like some "reality" sites. We try to give our surfers a taste of what they'll get inside. That way once they join they are happy and stay a member for an extended period. Making webmasters money long after they've sent the sale. Another bonus is having a member's area that has more than 200 gigs of content and growing daily. Good luck to any surfer trying to download our entire collection :winkwink:

Shap 08-29-2004 01:40 PM

For those wondering why I'd post our retention and conversion numbers here's your answer. Whether our numbers are good or bad we are always upfront with our webmasters and surfers. We are honest with everything we do and feel that by letting people know what to expect we attract the type of webmasters that we want as part of Twistyscash :thumbsup

Sassy Girl 08-29-2004 02:00 PM

I retain like mad around that time of the month.

Shap 08-30-2004 07:40 AM

Looks like retain may have been the wrong word to use in the title. :winkwink:

slapass 08-30-2004 08:09 AM

Shap, this type of thread is good for business. Thanks for sharing. It caused me to look at myu stats with you. I sent one sale on a few hundred clicks but guess what.... I have 6 rebills. Makes a guy think he needs to send more sales as last month was exactly the same.

Basic_man 08-30-2004 08:15 AM

Thanks for starting this thread :)

Shap 08-30-2004 09:04 AM

Good To Hear Slapass. We are going to be sending out an email today and tomorrow. It's going to be good :thumbsup
