Is it safe to install yet?

No problems on 5 machines so far.. make sure you check the compatibility page for programs that may cause boot problems.

i hope so, i did it on tuesday... it took forever too, so keep that in mind

Yup. It's really not the end of the world.. It's really safe and stable.. That's if you own a legal copy :glugglug

uninstall yahool toolbar and messanger as it'll fuckup your pc (or did on mine)

Otherwise it works fine.

Works for pirated copies too :winkwink:

i had 2 turn off XP's firewall, couldn't connect with either of my FTP programs.

other wise it's OK I guess

does sp2 have any serial validation tricks in it? or "phone home" type deals?

There is some problem with motherboard drivers I heard . Not good

Installed it on my new box, works fine, didn't test it a lot though.

I have Windows XP service pack 2, i've had it on for more than 2 weeks without turning it off, still holding up. maybe i just got a good copy? other than that its' bad ass. ie comes with a new download window and pop up blocker x;

Didn't like how I had alcohol 120% virtual drives setup. Didn't bother to tell me till after I downloaded and was midway through install, so I just didn't backup the atapi.dll
Update Worked fine for me, but I had to disable my firewall to get the update since I block svchost.exe from accessing the net.

Guess what? Whenever I click a link thats supposed to open in a new window, such as the ones on GFY, my IE crashes. How nice.
