How to save transparents bmp?
 

Anyone know how to save bmp so they are transparent to be used in windows apps? anyone know? photoshop will not seem to save them transparently

Yup, png should work i believe. But gif is most common for using transparancy.

Then I guess my real question should be, How do you make BMP files for software applications? This is a program written in python and it uses .BMP files for the icons. The original icons can be used in any setup (ex, windows XP vs. 2000, different skins, etc.) but when I do them, the saves them as gray, and it works fine for windows 2000, but if you have any skins or windows XP. the icons will have a different background color....

Get an icon creating program ... you might have some luck

sounds like an image mode problem check the mode of the original image go to image/mode and see what it is
