To host their National Convention! New York City is a predominantly Democratic city and there are going to be a shit load of demonstrations. I saw on the news that they?re predicting more than 500,000 demonstrators in the city. Even in Central Park where federal judges denied permits.

I wouldn't go as far as saying "riots" à la Los Angeles or Watts. I think there is going to be some disturbances but not full blown riots. Most Democrats are hippies that will be too high and/or lazy to start a riot. It's going to be a hippie love fest. :Graucho

There hasn't been a Democratic Mayor or Governor in New York for like 10 years! It can't be that overwhelmingly Democratic.

60 people got arrested outside of my apartment in the east village yesterday. Looks like tonight's shaping up to be the same way.

The scary part is that my girlfriend works in Midtown and they just arrested two people for plotting to blow up a midtown subway station. I''m trying to convince her to call in sick next week. :helpme

Doing it in the biggest city is definitly not a good idea ... lots of riots ... and if they win ... WATCH out ... it can be worst then 9/11

I think it's funny that there are protesters to a convention. What are they trying to accomplish? Trying to deny people of their right to free speech?

I think protesting at the convention would be exercising "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances". Sound familiar?
