The richer you get, the more paranoid you become?
When you come out of the state "When I have nothing, I have nothing to loose" which btw gives you a lot of freedom, and enter the stage where you feel you've achieved something in life, e.g. some of your goals, do you become more paranoid, like you become worried with the food you eat, your own/home protection, scared of accidents/incidents (if you die, who'll spend all that money) - etc, is this true?
Does the burden of the ring frighten the once fearless spirit in you? Or maybe not? :glugglug |
dunno man, i'm not rich but i wish i had the nonstoppable attitude i had when i didn't have 2 bucks to buy a packet of cigarettes
paranoid? why? you can always get a gun :) |
I know some poor people that are paranoid as hell too, so I don't think that's true in every case.

This statement is MOST definitely TRUE!
The more money i made the more i became careful about EVERYTHING....i even watched who i hung out with! money does strange things to you.... |
Yes, wealth has a lot of downsides. When you have money everyone tries to take advantage of you. This is why so many guys once they get done the show off and look at me stage of wealth go back to the low key incognito mode and act and look like they are just regular guys again.
I think the biggest common fear in terms of the money itself is you worry about losing your "gravy trains". Like when the Net came along I had to completely remodel my pay-per-call gravy trains when the 900 biz wasn't as lucrative as before. Good luck in business often makes you really paranoid thinking how long can these windfalls last and keep coming my way. I stopped worrying long ago though when I became more secure in the realization that no matter what the economy or current markets were like, I had mastered all the skills needed to find and create new opportunities myself. I realized if they didn't come my way out of luck, I could create them myself. Now in my 40's I'm not paranoid like I was in my 20's and 30's. I no longer worry about money. You have good years and you have bad years. Like when the dot com bust hit, all my tech stocks got nailed hard and I dropped millions of equity. But I knew yeh ok time to take some big hits, but it will all come back again in the next cycle, which did happen. The key to eliminating paranoia is to be able to adapt to both worlds and still be happy. When the chips are up its easy to be happy cause everything is going your way, when the chips are down and your deals bomb and you have to watch your money, you have to be happy with the simple things again. That's the secret to keeping your peace of mind. If tomorrow everything I have was taken away, it wouldn't bother me one bit, cause I know I could easily make it all back again, and I can happily and contently live without luxurious things in my life. |
