What's the loudest car stereo you've owned?
Just for kicks and giggles, I thought I'd throw this out, seems like there are an assload of IASCA folks in the adult industry.
Back in highschool i had a prelude with 4 rockford fosgate 15's, pushing about 3500 watts RMS ... 16 mids and tweets, and still pulled a 32 on the RTA, hit 145.5 db and cracked my windshield :thumbsup then I changed all that out, bought 2 RF power 12's, pushed 2000 watts rms to each one, mb quart 6/4/tweet in kick panels, ever speaker independently amplified, still hit 142 db (better box design), but pulled a 36 on the RTA without any external Equalizer ... then I went to college, sold it all for food and rent, lol. :glugglug |
2 Orion xTr's in a 5th demension box custom made for a honda accord, 2 cobalt 600watt amps, 1 to each speaker,a 4 way 200 watt kenwood amp to run 2 rear mids, 2 door mids and a 50watt kenwood amp to run 2 dash mounted tweaters.
The car was stolen and never recovered. Thank god for insurance that covered non factory equipment |
Why, just why??
|
I don't even remember what it was. I know I had 2 12" a nice amp
and a 12 volt eclipse deck (sweet deck) |

bwaaahahaahahaha or not... I'm not sure ... there's something I absolutely love ... particularly about those power 12's .... feeling like I just got kicked in the chest when the bass hits. with my 15's the bass would force air into my stomach and make me burp .... that was a fun trick at all the highschool parties. Gave my friend a bloody nose too, hehe. but I don't know why .. I'm still an audiophile, but can't bring myself to drop $10k into a car stereo and tear my car apart for it. the sound in my second system was symply bliss, I would spend hours driving and listening to music of all kinds ... from symphony, to rap, to club music.... even country sometimes (only for about 30 seconds at a time). That's not a very good reason still, lol ... for the same reason yo-yo ma plays on a violin worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. some people get it, some people don't |
Hmmmm maybe it was an 8v now that I think about it.
Or a 16 shit all I know is it was the best eclipse deck My car shook when I had it cranked. Nice amp too, eclipse 4 channel for my speakers and a kicker for the subs |
for christ's sake ... I mean a cello .. yo-yo ma plays the fucking cello

I get why musicians spend many thousand on instruments, I get why people get great setups for their homes, I just don't get the whole car/music thing. Most of those systems have way more power than you'll ever be able to use without wrecking your hearing and inside a car you don't need that much power anyway. At a fraction of the cost you can get something that'll also do the job, and the only real difference is that people won't hear your coming a mile away. :2 cents: |
As a stupid kid I competed in USAC sound challenges. I ran a 450 watt rated/900 watt actuall system supported by 3 JL 12w6's and was pushing 147.7 db. I won #1 in outlaw spl for the state 2 years running then I quit going to competitions.

Over 1000 watts is kinda useless in a small car ... i never listen to my music too loud anyways . I go clubbing when I want too
|
I did 6 JL Audio 12W6's on 2 PPI 2350"s in a car, (wall behind the drivers and passenger seats. Hit 148.9 sealed, almost 160 open, lost a lot of screws and bolts!:thumbsup It was one of the loudest amature systems in the state.:thumbsup

I once put 6 bullhorn style loudspeakers under the hood of my Galaxie, right behind the grille, with their own amps and a kill switch.
So when I flipped the switch, it made the music in the car pump out into the horns. We'd take it to places like Daytona Beach during spring break and blast polka or yodelling music. It was so loud that all the people on the sidewalks as we passed would be holding their ears. Pure midrange annoying madness, it was awesome. |
I used to have 3 10W6 JL audio subs in my 97 prelude powered by a Precision Power 1275 amp? it did the job? then I grew up and sold the whole thing for peanuts to make room for golf bags in my trunk.

1000 watt, but the car was orange.
|
have great setups there
Im only with 2 magnat xtc's 12" 360 watt rms on my hollywood 1600d monoblock that feeds them 400 watt rms each I thought that was loud lol |
in high school i used to have two fosgate 10's beind the back seat of my 74 beetle.....something about the way the backwindow reflected the bass and threw it up front was amazing
if I cranked it up over 1/4 of the way my eyes would vibrate |

Sickest system.... Hmmmm when I was younger I had quite a few...
The loudest I would say was in my Eagle Talon. 4 12" Orion XTR's in a clamshell bandpass box, powered by a huge Rockford Fosgate Punch Amp. Boston Accoustics components in the front and back powered by RF Punch Amps and a 3 disc alpine in-dash cd changer. It was pretty crazy! I have had a lot of systems, that was probably the loudest but the one I am most proud of was my Jeep Wrangler. Had a plexiglass box with specaled paint, roll our amp rack under the box. It was pretty incredible and I used to go to shows with it. Nowadays I am pretty happy with the stock systems in my cars, that way I don't have to worry about getting my car broken into and having to park it in certain places. I must be getting old because every booming car that goes by I want to kill the driver. LMAO!!! DH |
Nothing like a little POS car with some little try hard homie busting out his doof doof gangster crap. It's like Mr. Whippy turned hardcore.
|
I had a ford probe when I was 17 with 2 15 in'' earthquake thunders pushed by 3,500 watt RMS (6,000 watts total). I also cracked my front windsheild with it, every screw in the car would need to be tightened on a week basis, I had no door handles because they got loose and feel off.
Unfortunatly now I can't hear high pitch noises at all, and am hard of hearing :( Now I have 2 12'' rockfords pushed by 2,6000 watts with 4 inifinite kappa's pushed by 400 watts in my car In my truck I have 2 10'' rockfords pushed by 800 watts with bose surround sound |
3 15inch JVL audio, 2000 watts.
|
Huh, what? Speak louder!
|
I just got my stereo installed yesterday... RF Power Components, Power Coaxials, 2 JL Audio 12w3's, jl 500/1 amp, jl 4300, kenwood head unit, and kenwood 11 channel eq. It sounds good.
