So what are you going to use to get your HDTV channels? I heard voom (or varoom or something like that) satellite has a ton of HD channels, but the service is kind of lame. There's DirectTV if you get the hd dish, and then you could get hooked up with the HD-Tivo. That would be bad ass. :Graucho

FreeHugeMovies 08-27-2004 10:24 AM

I was having a bad day last month and went ahead and purchased one of these on sale from Best Buy. I would recommend getting a better stand for it. I was going to get the 60 but got the 50 instead. :)

The pictures don't do that stand justice... It's really pretty nice, and rated to hold a 600lb TV. My set only weighs 120lbs.:)

Yup... That's what I ordered. It's a HDTV-DVR(digital video recorder) from my cable company. Should be here in a day or two!

How does a standard cable signal look on that?

Is it all pixelated and stretched?

Nope... standard cable looks pretty good!

Here's a standard signal ( looks better in person )... but the HD stuff is night and day.

Visually it's the difference of looking at a TV, compared to looking at a window to another reality. The HD stuff is really amazing. Oh and video games rock on this thing too!:BangBang:

:)

cayne 08-27-2004 10:53 AM

wow - nice stuff.
HDTV is def. the next "must-have" thing.

Reak 08-27-2004 10:53 AM

It's a work in progress... In addition to the receiver/speakers, I'm also replacing allot of furniture too. I figure I'll have everything setup by the end of the month.

those rear projector HDTVs blew me away. The hdtv is amazing. You can never go back to crappy plasma.

Thanks!:)

It was $2900 on sale ( originally $3300 ) , but after all the HD component hookups, TV stand, progressive scan dvd, etc, it came to near $4k.:thumbsup

pornguy 08-27-2004 01:17 PM

Watch for the prices to drop in the next 8 months. though. Sony is increasing production and planning on dropping the price by as much as 30% to get higher sales.
