Content Providers, who will be supplying unaltered documents?

With the new 2257 amendments coming out I want to know who is going to be supplying ID documents with the models contact information on visible and not blurred?

That's an easy one :)

We have supplied all our clients with complete IDs (not blurred) of all our models.

I think people in more obscure countries can do it. But for US shooters this is going to be a nightmare.

I pity the content provider who's model gets hurt after he hands out her personal information...:2 cents:

Agreed, but what are US sites to do?

I though the new 2257, demands a proof of age..not a proof of adress.

But as well they say the doc should be unaltered...so it's a bit confusing.

On a more selfish point,
I personaly give full doc...nothing blacked out...and if a stalker want to get to my girl home adress...well they will end up in some desolate village in the jungle...where her home is....

But this is a real problem for most of the content providers...in non"obscured' contry

I would be surprise that this law, once adopted, isn't challenge in court.
As a friend of mine says;
It is a violation of the consititution, represses free speech and is NOT what the framers of this country had in mind.

MajorTom

You're not a US shooter......LOL

Privacy laws in the EU are much stricter than in the US.

I just had this reply to this same thread on another board.

Let me play devils advocate from the models view.

I sign a model release and it says nothing about my ID's are going to be given to every webmaster want to be that buys a $10 set of content........

Now the content provider starts giving out my ID's......

I wonder how many content providers are going to be sued off the face of the planet by models?

My guess is a lot of them.

IF this does become regulation I think every content provider needs to disclose in the model release or contract the fact that their ID's will be given to anyone that pays.

IF it comes to pass it is going to get very interesting.
This was my answer.

Thing is if the photogrpaher takes a picture of you holding your IDs as part of the set, you signed away your rights of privacy.

We take such a picture at the beginning of avery single set, any photographer not doing this is in line to be sued.
Guess the privacy of a model is something she signs away in the release if you do it right.

I think the ACLU would love to jump into this regulation!

I think as it's being spouted to "Protect Minors" they will steer clear of it.

If anyone is going to bring this down it will be us doing it ourselves. The magazine industry is pretty unaffected, from what they told me, and the video indutry as well. It's the Internet this was aimed at and up to the Internet to fight it.

Unless we are forced to do differently we will continue to provide all ID and Releases with the addresses blackened.....Should the age of a model be challenged by the authorities we will be only too happy to show them the originals with the addresses that we have on file.

I've always supplied the original 2257 docs w/ photos of ID's and face-shots of the models holding the ID's.

MixPhoto 08-30-2004 04:02 PM

Our clients receive from me all docs and complete IDs (not blurred) of all our models.

m2mm 08-30-2004 04:11 PM

I provide all docs without blur since 1998.
