If you get this error after attempting to log in... type in https://gmail.google.com/ and it should give you access. Ive gotten this error a few times and this seems to solve the prob.

There is probably a reason it is only a beta version for now...

I just logged into my new Gmail account for the first time
(thanks again for the invite EvilGuy!) and did not get any errors.

I think they were doing an upgrade or something last night. Maybe has to do with all the new invites they have been giving out. :)
