Fry's is like that too! I bought 5.1 surround speakers for my computer and the power supply didn't work for the thing, and I found out it was a returned item.

Fucking stores need to check this shit out, I get tired of taking the shit back.

When I worked at Sears during college we would get stuff returned all the fucking time.

We once sold a returned vcr to a new customer and he came back like 2 hours later to let us know that the vcr had a porno tape in it that the old customer forgot to remove. LOL!

Pretty fucking funny stuff!

DH

wdsguy 08-26-2004 08:29 PM

cuz they don't wanna waste the manpower to do that.

shermo 08-26-2004 08:30 PM

I definitly hate that. When I was in HS, I was working at Circuit City and we did this constantly. :ak47:

Another time one of the older associates took back a camcorder (that was reported malfunctioning) and didn't check the box.

He exchanged the camcorder for the same camcorder just a new one. Off the customer went...

the old sales associate opened the box 15 minutes later and the only thing in the box was a brick!!! LOL!

We used to have guys bring in their broken Playstations and complain they didn't work when they bought it. We would refund it no questions asked.

9 times out of 10 the playstation was like 4 years old and wasn't even sold by Sears.

I was an assistant manager at a womans clothing store and people would bring nasty shit back, but we would have to take it back.

I would get pissed, they would buy something on Fri. to go out in and Sun. they would bring it back. We would send it to home office.

thats still the easiest thing to do. most stores need the tags still on, so just jump on ebay and buy one of those tag thingys so you can buy clothes, take the tag off, go out in it, then put the tags back on.

i also worked at a dept store when i was young and people would bring back clothes that just REAKED of smoke and stains on the shirt....but, we had to take it back.

Oh it was awful!

We once had a family bring back a $2000 home theatre system they had for over a year. The reason for bringing it back?

They were moving out of the country! :1orglaugh

We're not a rental company here people!!!

Yep, if we didn't take it back they would come when the district manager was there and she would take ANY THING back. I had a fight with a girl who wanted to bring a boodysuit back and it was NASTY, she told me "Smell it I didn't ware it". LMFAO

Like I was going to smell it!

you worked for sears in '99?

rowan 08-26-2004 09:11 PM

I was sold an expensive cellphone (bought it outright, not on a plan) and was pretty pissed off to find that half the accessories were already opened, and someone had filled out the warranty card.

I took it back 10 minutes after I purchased it. The manager looked pissed too, made me sign some piece of paper to say I had received the goods. Fuck that: I paid RRP, I expect new goods. He has no right to be pissed.

I made sure I checked that the ID numbers on the box and the handset label matched up before I signed, just in case they'd swapped the used handset into a box with new accessories.

I always peek in the box when I buy something. It's usually easy to figure out if things have been repacked.

warlock5 08-26-2004 10:04 PM

Some guy was taking nudie pics of himself with digi cams and returning them to a local dept store in my area. Apparently someone who bought a camera found them and complained, it was in the newspaper. :1orglaugh

That sucks..but don't blame the poor guy who sold it to you. Most likely he was just doing his job and wasn't aware that there were parts missing. It seems he took time to at leats explain the product to you.

aSStig 08-26-2004 10:40 PM

well, they're just to lazy to do checking things . . .

Marcus Aurelius 08-26-2004 10:42 PM

did you at least get a mail in rebate! in only 4 months after filling out 19 forms, with photocopied ID, handwritten letter from the president of the company verifying purchase, picture of cashier, and original receipt, you will get a check for $8.00 in the mail.
