Think the USA has the best doctors in the world?

Think again. Look how many obscure little BFE countries have longer life expectancies than us. Now there are many factors to this, not just healthcare...

doctors here don't really care about patients, they just want thier payoffs from the drug companies to exclusively subscribe thier medications

AdultNex 08-26-2004 08:38 AM

It's not the doctors, it's the diet and the American culture.

We just sit at home, and drive to McDonald's for dinner.

Don't forget the ones who are ripping of the insurance companies - my wife nearly died because a doctor decided he'd make more money from her by keeping her ill...

I just got home from the US and I must say I've never seen so many fat obese people anywhere.

Yes I'm sure US doctors, hospitals and education are among the best in the world.

For those who can afford them. For those that can't afford to pay for it the system sucks.

jacked 08-26-2004 09:10 AM

i bet india has the best doctors even though they're medical care facilities aren't as good as ours :thumbsup

I'm going to ask you that when you're 79.82 :winkwink:

Goatse 08-26-2004 03:13 PM

It has nothing to do with doctors. It's a combo of diet, lifestyle and genetics.

NinjaSteve 08-26-2004 03:24 PM

Life expectancy at birth? What if they are from Iceland but move to Haiti or something?

DWB 08-26-2004 04:05 PM

American doctors can lick my ass crack.

wdsguy 08-26-2004 04:06 PM

thats cuz alot of other countries have universal health care, doesn't really say much about the quality of doctors.

Dax 08-26-2004 04:18 PM

This is the real deal:

The doctors, are much better in south america and specially in Cuba..

The hospitals are better here.. cuz they have everything..

The problem is not fully blamed on education.. but on lawyers.. a doctor needs to go thru so many papers before he can do anything.. that it just takes the job out of his hands..

The way the learn to be doctors in latin america is a lot tougher than here... so hence.. doctors who ( a good buddy of mine just did this ) go to south america to study and then come here and get their licenses.. will be much better docs than typical US residents who dont leave the country.

Zerof8 08-26-2004 04:41 PM

Our lives are estimated to be shorter than the #1 country by 6 years, thats really not as bad as I thought it would be. We only lose 6 years to fast food and laziness:thumbsup

McDonalds with all those calories and fats, I don't think so

fr8 08-26-2004 05:25 PM

I dont think all the best doctors start out here. They move here for the money.

America's the best place in the world to get health care if you can afford it. If you can't afford it... it's the worst. :2 cents:

Australia is the most obese country after America with the same type of diet and culture yet we are #6 and America is #48. In fact all the countries with the socialised medicine people keep on whining about are higher than America.

You got one of the few true assholes. The problem is actually the other way around, insurance companies are driving doctors out of business. There is a huge shortage of obstatricians and pediatricians because the malpractice insurance is so expensive. Private practice doctors used to be very affordable, but not anymore and that is almost exclusively due to malpractice insurance premiums.

Be sure to mention that to an American doctor as he's trying to save your life.
