Paypal users: now is a good time to leave

If you are using a paypal account for doing adult business, you might want to leave now. I was just looking at their policy updates...

"Violating the Acceptable Use Policy
Notice Date: August 23, 2004
Effective Date: September 24, 2004

Violators of the Mature Audiences, Prescription Drugs and Gambling categories of PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy may be subject to a fine of $500.00 USD and/or PayPal may take legal action against you to recover losses that are in excess of the amount fined."

Looks like they get more creative at revenue generation every day.

fr8 08-25-2004 09:26 PM

paypal is worthless no matter what you use it for. there are so many other good ones out there.

hydro 08-25-2004 09:27 PM

they should wake up and offer email marketing, id love to advertise my mainstream stuff through paypal.

evildick 08-25-2004 09:31 PM

Holy shit. Thankfully they closed my account last week so I won't have to pay the $500.

Which ones do you recommend?

iwantchixx 08-25-2004 10:18 PM

Just get rid of large sums FAST. Don't tie it to a bank account that you save money in and don't let them have your credit card number EVER.

Then how do they go after you for $500?

If you really think they will spend big bucks suing you to have a judge laugh it out of court, then I got a bridge to sell you.

I spend any money I get in paypal as soon as I get it and the bank acohahahaha it is tied to has $20 in it max.

psyko514 08-25-2004 10:19 PM

iwantchixx, how much for your bridge?

I gave up on them a long time ago.. glad to see that lawsuit made them change their ways. :321GFY

Actually, a year ago was a good time to leave. Now it's basically letting yourself be robbed willingly.

there are a lot of payment systems yes... but none as widely accepted as PayPal. I hate to say it but they still have a large piece of that pie and I don't see it changing...

exactly, I've been searching for something as widely accepted as PayPal but sadly they are way on top!

I've even thought of bringing on a system by myself to compete with PayPal but i think i couldn't even take a crumble of their piece.

nofx 08-26-2004 06:30 AM

i've used paypal heavily for two and a half years and NEVER have had any problems. I also love my Paypal debit card, I use it daily.

Does epassporte have a debt card type deal?

Khun 08-26-2004 06:35 AM

Face it, Paypal has a huge share in the marketplace. Mainstream, they are pretty much the whole damn show. If that fact pisses you off, do the american thing. Build a beter service and shut the fuckers down.

Brinner 08-26-2004 07:15 AM

paypal really sucks. Back when it came out it was a great payment tool, now its nothing like it was.

Actually I owe paypal like 1.5 g now ...

They fucking let a guy charge back on me when I had delivered the product (old d2 story) . So I just switched the money real fast ...

And they aren't doing shit, been like 3 years now .

Their fucking policies aren't up to date for sellers ...

Had the same lat feb.... Buyer did chargeback of 2200.00, but my account was under 100.00 ... I had paid the producer by Paypal also, so I told them to charge that amount back ( 1900.00 ). They wouldn't because it was " funded "....

Let them run after me ...

noone else finds it unnerving that the dates they mention coincide suspiciously closely w/ the supposed new 2257 laws..?
