Internet meltdown predicted for tomorrow
Set your watches By Nick Farrell: Wednesday 25 August 2004, 07:41 A RUSSIAN computer security expert has predicted that a large chunk of the Internet will be shut down by terrorists tomorrow. Aleksandr Gostev from Kaspersky Labs was speaking at a conference hosted by Russian Information Agency Novosti. The cyber terrorists main targets will be the US and Western Europe, he said. Gostev said that the information on the attack could be found on "specialist web sites" although at the time of going to press the INQ couldn?t find them. The story first appeared on the Lenta.ru web agency and might be as valid as this this one, however we are hedging our bets and buying in extra cans of beans. --- This has to be bullshit. Routing has improved drastically over the last few years, I doubt we'll see anything |

maybe they can slow it down, but I doubt they can shut it down.

Shitty as it is, expect things like this to happen in the future. Cyber terrorism will get as common as other sorts of terrorism. I 100% expect use parts of the internet to (temporary) shut down in the future because of terrorists.

Yeah, fucked up shit.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see this happen more and more on a regular basis. They'll hit us where it hurts... right in the pocket book.
