I'm buying a new car, Proberly gonna be this one(MG)

I looked for many cars, Volvo C70 T5. Hyundai Coupe 2.7V6, Mercedes CLK230, BMW 3.25 CI, Subaru impreza, and after thinking, test driving, and such, I suddenly saw this MG!

This is the one I will drive saturday again. Big change I will pick this one.

What do you think?

Oh here the reason why no Volvo C70T5-->fuel 1:7KM, price per LITRE here is 1,22EURO

Same for subaru, and also the year and uhm tax addition..Not sure how to call it..Anyway eneded up MG is best choice for fuel and tax wise

stevecore 08-25-2004 09:54 AM

mercedes, BMW, volvo...... why in the hell did you test drive a hyundai?!?!?

Manowar 08-25-2004 09:54 AM

the mg is nice and all, but everyone knows its a modified rover 75

http://www.cwn.org.uk/motoring/rover...-w400-h262.jpg

if the fuel wasnt so costly i would have said go with the subaru

Lace 08-25-2004 09:55 AM

I want a right hand drive car. :(

chupachups 08-25-2004 09:56 AM

Are you sure? I know cars are ++ expensive in nl but... I´d prefer the BMW, Volvo and Benz (even though the 230 has a bit smallish engine) over that one..

Whats your budget, like 20k or so?

Vitasoy 08-25-2004 09:56 AM

The interior, does not look right to me.. :2 cents:

MaDalton 08-25-2004 09:58 AM

why do you want to buy a car from a company that probably will not exist anymore in 2 or 3 years? :2 cents:

Looks like shit and will give you none of the status that either a Beamer or a Benz will. However, your money, your car. :winkwink:

Great fun if you get pulled over by the police apparently, especially if your passenger climbs from the front seat to the back seat just as they turn the lights and sirens on...

Everyone will still see it as a rover.

Don't go for the BMW, the new models comes out in less than a year and that means devaluation

loverboy 08-25-2004 10:04 AM

go with a BMW if it fits your pocket, this is really worth investing.

Goose 08-25-2004 10:05 AM

hmm not my taste...MG has better ones. Especially the older cars!

Cars are not as cheap in Holland as in the United states.

Here a BMW 325i costs 43k euro, which is ~50k US. For that money you could buy a nicely loaded M3 there.

I agree on the subaru. But I was thinking, and thought, hmm do I need all that power todo some shopping:)

Also the fucking fuel, and don't forget insurance:)

normally a lot of people from the uk order cars from holland and import them to the uk to save money. but in this case (if that link is correct 30k euros) you may well find it cheaper to order a left hand drive model from a dealer in the uk and ship it over to holland. you could get that car for about £16k (about 23k euros) in the uk, maybe less if you haggle with them.

Yeah 20K EURO indeed. I don't want to spend more, because I also wanna buy a kart, new house, and wanna go on holliadays and such:)

Mercedes CLK 230 is here for example 65K USD dollar!

Hmm, I guess you´re right but I´d drop that MG. C70 T5 are very priceworthy if you ask me.. :2 cents:

Well, can happen, but over 2-3 years I will buy a new car anyway.

In 2-3 it's written off the tax

they are middle of the road cars (no pun intended) you can get quite a lot of car for the money when buying new, but they tend to depreciate quite quickly i think.

You just shit yourself? :1orglaugh

Anyway, if all you need the car for is shopping and want to get good mileage on it, why not try something more city smart, like a Peugeot 206?

So for you a big car gives you status? I have other thoughts about that. But 206 is also nice, but I also have to carry some dogs:) And the MG is 5 doors, so great for that as well

Yeah, what he said. Hyundai is the biggest joke in America. They went out of business about a dozen years ago and then came back. I never understood why they chose to bring the Hyundai name back instead of creating a new brand.

They must have a different reputation in your country in order to be grouped with the other manufacturers you checked out.

The MG is nice though, good luck with it :thumbsup

It's nice indeed. But

325Ci
KM 76.500
Date: 18/04/2001
price ? 43.950,=

is a little to much for me for a 2001 car

MG had it's glory days. Recent MGs look like shit and look more like ricer cars to me. I would NEVER buy one. Sure you're not going for the Volvo? I've test driven it to and liked it alot! Looks sweet too ;)

Yeah it does. But fuel wise, and also with the tax sucks. I have to add 10K yearly to my income to drive a car like that. The MG half of it

Andre

hova 08-26-2004 03:08 AM

The MG is a nice car, you dont see them to much on the streets

Also, I watched a BBC auto show and the MG was OWNED by practically all the other cars in the test.

The engine was said to be made from "volcanic rock" and they didn't mean it in a good way (if there's one).

I agree that the 407 looks great on this picture. But in real life it looks way too small to be a follow-up to the 406

I beg to differ , I saw a few new MG's here in London over the last couple of days, They were HOT ! One on a show room floor just gave me a hard on.....Too bad I was on the top of a tour bus at the time would have love to seen it up close, but have some pics. I love MGs and currently own a 79 LE..... :thumbsup
