What is considered to be a "high income" in America?
If I make, say $5000 / month, is that a high or a low income?

The richer you become the less you pay :thumbsup |
I would call that middle class.
|
Really depends on where you live. You make 5k/month and live in rural south you would be considered well off. You live in southern California and make 5k/month you're middle class.

well 5k a month, you really cant say thats good or bad. it depends on where you live . if you live in NYC then its just ok. if you live in Montana then your a King LOL
|
It depends where you live. New York, San Fran or Hong Kong? You're poor, almost homeless. Missouri, Oklahoma, New Brunswick... you can live like a king.
|
I say $3,857mo. and you might not make it
|
bunch of you have very little clue...but thats normal.
Gross or net? Rent or own? Car payments? Child support? I know people make $250k a year who don't have dime to their name because of debt. |

You are considered to have a high income in America if you have any type of "yard" in California that is larger than 4 square foot.

5k in new york won't mean much if you have to pay 2k a month in rent
|
I think 5k / month is an average income... Only thing is I bet 75% of the people on this board dont make that

census.gov
Average income per household in the USA in 1999: $3499.50 / month maybe $3500 - $3600 now |

no. Usually such numbers increase about 2-3% a year.
|
Only 5% of the population makes over 85k

and that would be around 4k... dont forget that you get 2-3% every year, meaning the raise is bigger every year |

5k a month x 12 months = 60k a year. you'll see by the census chart that that's above average for every single state in the US (2002 anyways) and in some states that's double. You'd be doing nice in my neck of the woods, just as long as you aren't up to your eyeballs in debt. |
