Need an ingenious solution from someone really smart

Ok, I have a rather silly problem. I am going backpacking in Australia and I am trying to come up with a way to carry portein bars with me without them melting and stuff.

I've been eating the same protein bars for a long time every day and don't want to stop (EAS Myoplex cookies & cream).

Mmmm... that's one of my favorites, too. I like the protein powder in that flavor, also. All of EAS's stuff is good.

Don't know what to tell you about the other deal. Unless maybe you got some of those little cold pack deals and stuck the bars in a ziplock baggie with one each day.

the solution is to cancel the stupid backpacking trip, what do you want to be doing that for?

buy a travelogue video about the Australian outback on DVD, turn the air conditioning on, get a 12 pack of beer or soda, a fistful of beef jerky and relax on your couch.

Well there are those freezer-pack thingies...I'm not sure how long they stay cold once out of the freezer, and I'm not sure how much they weigh, and I'm not sure if they'd be even remotely practical...but it's a thought...

Those cold packs aren't going to hold for a five day trek are they?

The only thing I could think of were those kind that you break and they get cold, like the hot ones. I've seen those small insulated envelope looking deals, too. I thought maybe you could put them in one of those insulated deals each morning with the cold pack, and it would last for the day. Would it be really hot at night? At least you could take them out and let them sit out in the air when you stop each night.

I guess it depends on how many you need to take. Maybe an insulated lunch box thingy? Shit, I don't know. It's 5:00 am and I'm delirious. :1orglaugh

All over pretty much. Starting from Sydney, going up the east coast and then back to sydney through the desert (Known to some as the "D" course).

Gonna be there for three months or so, and then drop by NZ for two more.

If you're going to be in Hervey Bay - hit me up on 211 172 496

We might be able to give you a home cooked meal one night

Package the bars tightly into a box of some measure, and then let the whole thing cool off in the shadow for some time before opening it when you want one. They'll melt some, but they'll keep the shape.

Make that a white or lightly colored box for added effect.

Simply just get frozen ice pack.. put the bars up against it.. and wrap in tea towel.
