Are you sure it got removed or perhaps you just lost the shortcut?

In XP you can find it at
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\mspaint.exe

Why do you need mspaint in the first place?

:eek7

Thanks mardigras. However I've been using Start > Run > mspaint.exe several times, no dice. So, I'm positive it is gone. I believe I accidentally deleted it, year back, when I mass removing programs - in efforts of removing spyware.

Screenshots, etc - Easier to load up, save.

Photoshop is too bulky for low end graphic tasks.

Start -> settings -> control panel -> add/remove programs -> add/remove windows components -> Accessories and utilities -> accessories -> Paint ;)

Did you try C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\mspaint.exe to see if it was in there? That is actually the backup you would use to restore the file without the Windows CD. When my paint disappeared I found it there and just created a shortcut from that location to the desktop, then moved that shortcut to the place paint used to be on the Start Menu (in my case the Accessories folder).

Anything on the Start Menu is just a shortcut.
