All Laptops suck....they are hit or miss even with the same brand.
GET THE WARRANTY. (I just bought a BRAND NEW $1500 emachine 3 months ago, w/ AMD64, ATI9600, 512RAM etc...screen is going out:( ). What's worse, 2nd one, different problem.:feels-hot

Expect them to last about 1-2 years without investing $$$.

brand0n 08-24-2004 10:54 PM

you bought an emachine? wow.

he booted it up....it crashed.......rebooted.....didnt work......rebooted.......screen turned all blue......it was rather funny to watch as played with the Vaio a few notebooks down. :glugglug

Last year I bought a Dell Inspiron 8500 2.4Ghz, 15.4" WXGA, 1GB Ram through Dell Outlet. Works like a dream. I use it when I travel. At home it's like a second PC that my kids use.

ProjectNaked 08-24-2004 11:28 PM

P.O.S.------------>emachines

O well, got warranty...just hate dumping 50GB of PORN when I take it in!:1orglaugh

I agree with you, apple has really good laptops, a bit expensive, but you pay for quality and performance.

I bought the Dell 8600 a couple of months ago to use as an everyday computer so I can go outside and not have to copy info :)

I LOVE it! I got a couple of upgrades - upgraded the screen, RAM, got a wireless card, etc.

IIRC, everything was around $1500 but it's probably lower now.

Herb Kornfield 08-25-2004 06:55 AM

overstock.com - best deals out there, I have bought laptops from them and had nothing but good experiences.

Basic_man 08-25-2004 07:02 AM

My bro bought a laptop from them and it worth it !

You'll end up with a Sony though, like all the others around here
