Why do people feel the NEED to get DRUNK or BLASTED in order to have a good time?

just a few drinks to catch a nice/light buzz is fine really

Why drink and drive when you can smoke and fly?

Pretty dumb if you ask me.

I don't understand the point of getting yourself out of control, doing stupid stuff and then not remembering it anyway.

If I'm going to have fun, and it's going to cost me money... I want to at least be able to remember it... having control of my mind is just an added bonus.

I drink casually.. wasn't anywhere near drunk even once in FL.

I was high on juicy.. but that's a different story

Not everyone does. I don't think I had more than 1 drink a day in FLL and I didn't drink at all in San Diego. I'm naturally psycho :thumbsup

i drink almost daily, i enjoy sitting around and having a few drinks with a select group of friends, i also drink at clubs, it just provides something to do while you are partying.

First night at shows I usually get stupid and wasted. Then I feel bad about it so I stay sober the rest of the show.

But in general, I have no idea why people feel the need to get drunk to have a good time. I haven't been drunk since May and I usually enjoy myself just fine.

I never feel the need to get drunk, I hardly ever get drunk. And I've never been blasted either.

Beeing drunk is cool ... but not too often . I haven't been drunk in a club for a while now ... I slowed down on alchool a lot . And I still have a lot of fun .

But dancing when you are drunk is easier

I always enjoy drinking/smoking before I go out and while I am out. I dont get totally fucked up beyond control, but I just enjoy being in a relaxed state while i'm having fun.

so that when the hang over was cure they got a reason to tell everyone that they are not concious when they did something crazy under the spell of alcohol lol

they prob cant dance and want to make up for that?? gives them something to do... :2 cents:

Nah - once in a while I like to rip it out and get trashed.. party 'till 10:00am the next morning kind of thing. Usually I like to develop a good buzz and maintain it until it's time to go home..

I think a lot of it is not knowing your limits mixed with lack of self confidence. Alcohol helps break down inhibitions, which is fine and dandy in social situtations, but mix alcohol with an insecure and irresponsible person and instead of a social person, you have a social disgrace.

I don't drink. it's a sin.

Some people need it to loosen up & once they start they don't know when to stop.

Well its not really a sin but alcohol doesn't bring you anything, like sigarettes do. But there's something like addiction :glugglug

I drink to celebrate and most of the time because of hard times.

A little coke has never killed anyone. Only those who have over done it.

Seen from here (Europe) I believe it has something to do with the fact you can't drink before 21 in the US. I think it pushes people to drink more when they are over 21. My :2 cents:

If you open medical encyclpaedia it'll tell you that alcohol blocks some brain areas which are responsive for human self-control and has effect upon self-assurance brain areas. It also helps human organism to produce more hormone that usually provides good mood

not always, and esp. not in the clubs. I'm not drinking much, when I'm going to a club, but it's cool to hang out at a friends house and drink some massive bottles of vodka. :glugglug

Being drunk, you can let yourself loose.

The title of this thread is why I dont go to clubs or bars, and why I havent had even wine or beer in what seems like years now.
It's a social thing I guess, peer pressure.
I'm not a teetotaller, I just decline to pretend it's a good time.

I drink just so I have an excuse for embarrassing myself?

I can have fun without getting drunk, just as I can get no fun even if I'm drunk..

it all depends on the situation, and what you're doing...

plus, you always need to drink smart...
drinking so that you will not remember anything that happened to you the next day, doesn't make you cool. it makes you a loser...
