I would LOVE jury duty! I know I am too judgemental to ever be picked for an actual jury however.

they have it out for me...I've been summoned three times in the last three and a half years...my mom's lived in this town for 25 years and has only been called once, lol. This is the first time they've actually called my juror number to go in though.

just go in their and tell them you would be perfect for any case because you are the god of your own religion and sitting in judgement on others is part of your "godly" duties. you'll be outta there in no time.

Tell em you would make a good jury cause you can spot guilty people from a mile away.

LOL The first time I could have gotten out of it, being 7 months pregnant, but I thought it would be fun.....but I forgot to go when the time came, so I got in trouble and they called me again, but they didn't calle my number that time. this time I called Sunday nite and they hadn't called me, but told me to call back the next night. i forgot until about 11pm, and then I called, and sure enough, they want me in, so I'm scrambling to find a sitter for my little girls, lol.

I due next month for duty. I hope they ask me if I have any prejudicial feelings about the law. I will tell them straight out., "the system is corrupt. The wealthy hardly ever go to jail for their crimes, i.e. white collar type. And defense lawyers are permitted to say anything they want in court without backing it up with any evidence of any kind. I.e, OJ, f. lee bailey.

What's funny is that I am a big, big Crime fan.....like, I watch Court TV late at night, I'm a sucker for any forensics show-long before there was CSI I watched American Justice, Cold Case Files and all that on A&E. true crime fascinates me. weird, i know. I've never been in any legal trouble, except a custody case when my son was four (which I won), so it's not a personal involvement I want. I always wanted to be a trial lawyer, but I became a parent ahead of schedule and it threw all my plans off, so maybe I'm living vicariously, lol:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

maxdaname 08-23-2004 09:16 PM

Tell them you hate every race and you'll be off jury duty!:thumbsup

I'm assuming from your location you're in FL, right? You can get out of it if you have small children that you stay home with. You just have to call and tell them you stay home with them and don't have any alternate care for them. Kids, elderly parent(s), anyone who depends on you... those are all legit reasons for you to be excused.

Very true, but I had to file for exemption 5 days before, and I completely forgot about it until my calendar reminder sent me a notification three days ago. Go figure, right? lol

Yeah, I guess that would mess you up. My mom is part of the prosecution team where we live so luckily that always knocks me out and I never even have to go. But I think one of the first things they do is ask for anyone who can't be there for any reason (kids, health, etc) to speak up so they can dismiss you. It seems like they should let you go tomorrow if you tell them your deal.

Doctor Dre 08-24-2004 03:17 PM

I wouldn't like to do that ... keep us updated .

Judging somebody for something isn't my speciality ... I don't like to judge people
