Are you taking your shit down tonight?

...or are you going to play a very risky waiting game?

Maybe you want to believe that these new amendments will never actually be enforced?

Maybe you take the advice of board posts over that of a qualified attourney?

So - what's it gonna be? Greed and risk or safety?

Spunky 08-23-2004 08:27 PM

Waiting and seeing...I'm a canuck so I'm not worried yet

railz 08-23-2004 08:30 PM

Who said I was leaving? I still write for Pornresource.com every day - I still do design work and I still program every day.

I'm here for the long haul Ladymischief but rather than wait for the knock on the door, I will watch from safety :)

We have a company setup in the UK so it really doesnt matter to us whether these new proposals go through or not.

All we have to do is file one document and within 24 hours all of our US based business entities will become fully owned by our UK company :thumbsup

It really is as easy as that to avoid the BS happening in the US under the current administration :2 cents:

Regards,

Lee

:thumbsup Good for you man. Way to go.!

railz 08-23-2004 08:40 PM

I am aware of that :) Just thought I'd get a head start on everything.

Public comment or not, this is happening and it worries me that so many people don't seem to realize the impact this could have on our affiliate business model.

I may be going a little overboard, but I want to stay in this business for life. I'll live to fight another day.

fr8 08-23-2004 08:44 PM

Anyone placing bets one who gets hit first? Who ever it is its going to suck and I hope that they win the battle so us smaller people will still have a chance to make it. :)

railz 08-23-2004 08:53 PM

I know which site has got my money on :(

Jace 08-23-2004 08:54 PM

boobmaster 08-23-2004 08:55 PM

you were not aware of that, otherwise you would have posted this the night before the regulations go into effect...not the last day for commenting

THINNING THE HERD!!!

railz 08-23-2004 09:06 PM

My point exactly :)

Kimmykim 08-24-2004 12:51 AM

Tomorrow is the hearing on public comments, and then there are still 30 days before the final version is signed. Then there are 30 days to get into compliance.

The sky is not falling tonight Chicken Little ;)

MissMiranda 08-24-2004 01:04 AM

say what you want about not highering a lawyer but when your site bairly covers its own ass you cant afford to get a lawyer.

Sites like mine are ran by one person, done by one person and when your not a lawyer it is damn hard to figure things out.

like how the hell do I get records in order for myself if im the only one on my site?

AO4L - Adult Online for Life :Graucho

As technology advances, and it will, Internet & computer technology will bring
new ways of selling as well as a greater market.

There will be at least a few places in the world, for a long time ahead, where it's
OK to be in the Adult business.
It's just too good to pass up, I'll move almost wherever it takes if regulations
keep hardening.

As a business-guy, geared towards online & worldwide sales.. I'd be a moron to get
out of Adult. :2 cents:

wdsguy 08-24-2004 03:07 AM

honestly, i know it sounds cheesy...but what I would do, what we did for my wife's site..is print out a screen cap of each video and 1 pic from each photo set....then make that many photo copies of your id's and attach them to each print out....and file it away...i know it is VERY cheesy, but if you're worried, than this is just a precaution...

i seriously doubt that single girl sites really have to worry that much though

You're correct about that...IMO amateur girls don't have to worry so much about the feds, they have to worry about obsessive fans tracking them down through their posted information and knocking on their doors. Or holy rollers to start protesting on their corners. Adult models as well, though their info will be a tad harder to access.

EscortBiz 08-24-2004 05:44 AM

I took all my sites down when I got the acacia letter and I wont bring them back up until I get another letter saying I can do so.

sumphatpimp 08-24-2004 06:05 AM

its going to be fun to watch this play out.

like visa

like acacia

like all the rest of it

has any online website/company ever been brought up on charges stemming from the current 2257 regs?

I guess you plan on moving to the UK as well right? Otherwise, your plan is useless. As a resident of the U.S. you are still subject to U.S. law, even if you run your corporation offshore.

Don't kid yourself. They will go after smaller people that can't afford a big defense first so they can parade them around as examples.:glugglug

Actually there has NEVER been a 2257 charge EVER. Not just counting on the internet. I'm talking about videos, mags whatever.

This is correct. This is also why these new regs are taking place.

Ashhahahahaha had to answer to congress why there were no prosecutions under the 2257 law. His answer was that the current 2257 laws were to ambiguous.

Hence the new version of 2257.

These new regs are being put into place to er.. assist Ashhahahahaha in persuing adult websites.

He isn't going to want to go before congress again with no prosecutions after he initiated the new regs, so I fully expect within two weeks of the new regs being law, a handful of raids to take place simultaneously.

Yep, that what I think, too. He has no other options. He'd make a fool of himself if there wouldn't be any prosecutions that "prove" that the changes and effort were necessary. Even better for him, noone really cares for a few "evil porn guys" to go to jail and the media would probably celebrate him for making the world a better and safer place for children and families. Yes, maybe a bit exaggerated...but I fear just a bit.

polls suggest that there will be an administration change in a few months.

and if so, it will not be the current atorney general dealing with this issue.

even so, i will be compliant with 2257.

Im glad you are so aquainted with how my business is run Hammer keep ding what you are best at scaremongering and keep out of my business affairs.

Trust me you know less than 1% of how my business is run.

Just a quick hint for you though, employees / employers there is a difference when it comes to that you know as far as the law goes ;)

I disagree with this. The new 2257 regs don't add much to the whole stalking issue/risk. The original 2257 regs say you need to have all your info on your site...so that is nothing new.
Being in the adult industry you put yourself at risk for certain things; whether its fair/right or not.
