Do you love or hate Starbucks?

I like them. Everyone loves to hate them but they offer a decent quality product in a good atmosphere. People love to hate the successful guy.

TDF 08-23-2004 06:08 PM

everyday starts with a venti carmel mocciato

Serge Litehead 08-23-2004 06:08 PM

their coffee is nasty, i always buy it and always hate it

johnvod 08-23-2004 06:08 PM

You can't hate Starbucks, they have the best coffee ever, unless, you are tired of the trend.

European Lee 08-23-2004 06:09 PM

Triple mocha low fat decaf iced latte with sprinkle or, in the real world you could just ask for...

A Coffee.

Regards,

Lee

rhon23 08-23-2004 06:10 PM

I prefer Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf over Starbucks much better coffee

ScottMN 08-23-2004 06:10 PM

I like my coffee like I like my men - hot and black. :)

(just kidding about the men part)

702Daisy 08-23-2004 06:11 PM

I can't say that I love them... But I go there a lot. It seems like the most convenient place to go, even if there is a mile long line. :)

Maybe they spike the coffee so even if you hate it you still go because you are addicted to something about it... Kinda like my ex boyfriend... anyway, that's my 2 cents :)

Giorgio_Xo 08-23-2004 06:11 PM

Peet's is the only one true coffee.

hottoddy 08-23-2004 06:11 PM

Yeah, I can relate to the "love hate" thing. I can't stand the fact that they are everywhere, and buying up the smaller companies (like Seattle's Best and Torrefazione). But I enjoy their stuff - primarily americanos, coffee and the occasional latte.

Vitasoy 08-23-2004 06:11 PM

I love their coffee. Too bad it's soo far from my place. :(

Serge Litehead 08-23-2004 06:11 PM

US forgot a taste of a real good brewed coffee :2 cents:
starbacks buys cheapest coffe around and sells it for premiums because they're conviently located everywehere.

i just hate their coffee, the success story all good.

count bling 08-23-2004 06:12 PM

starbucks sucks!

riosluts 08-23-2004 06:12 PM

i actually hate starbucks. Everything there is so damn expensive and sucks.

Tala 08-23-2004 06:13 PM

Fuck Starbucks and their overpriced, bitter, burnt fucking beans.

Gimme some Seattle's Best venti milky way mocha, extra chocolate and double shot of caramel. Whipped cream please. Caramel drizzle.

I'm awake for fuckin HOURS after that. :thumbsup

ScottMN 08-23-2004 06:13 PM

You know what i think? I think they spike it with caffeine to get you hooked. So even if you don't like it, you still go there! I'm going to the press with this.

Is peet's based in oregon?

flashfire 08-23-2004 06:14 PM

sorry I'm a hater

Donny 08-23-2004 06:15 PM

I love Starbucks. Often times I'll get updates ready at home before going to bed and then get up in the morning and go to Starbucks, where I'll drink coffee while uploading on the T-Mobile Hotspot. It's a great atmosphere.

ScottMN 08-23-2004 06:16 PM

So far about 2/3 haters, 1/3 lovers

My home town of Berkeley, CA. The founders of Starbucks trained at Peet's before moving to Seattle to start the original store.

Those thieving bastards

hottoddy 08-23-2004 06:22 PM

I agree the Peet's does rock, but there's only a few around the Portland area. I try to go out of my way to visit whenever possible, but it's hard when there's 10 Starbucks within a 2 mile radius. Tully's is also decent. I was also a fan of Deidrich Coffee from Orange County, CA.

You can't really say that Starbuck's sells crap coffee. I mean they carry high end stuff like Jamaican Blue Mountain, Ethiopian Harrar, etc. The main problem is that their traditional blends are roasted to fuck and back. They tend to be harsh and acidic.

bad_girl 08-23-2004 06:23 PM

I prefer Second Cup or Timmies.

Again, you do know that Starbuck's owns Seattle's Best? Your money is lining the same pockets.

You know, by saying that you are insulting over 3/4ths of the GFY "webmaster" population AKA my employees!! watch your tongue. no prebuilt TGP or apple pie for you!

quiet 08-23-2004 06:39 PM

i avoided them for years, but after my first decaf caramel machiato [sic], i was hooked. don't like their coffee, but i love their expresso-based drinks.

myjah 08-23-2004 06:39 PM

sextoyking 08-23-2004 06:42 PM

Coffee??? What the heck is that :)

I have only had like 2-3 cups in 10 years or so...

I love my crystal springs water!!

freeadultcontent 08-23-2004 06:44 PM

Do not hate them, do not love them.
Will drink it if it is offered.

John_Doe 08-23-2004 06:46 PM

Their coffee is the shit! Literally.

dank 08-23-2004 06:50 PM

Fcuk, I live in Portland, Oregon and am sitting in Starbucks right now using their t-mobile wireless connection right now!!

It's not a bad atmosphere, but I dont even drink coffe....I like tea!:stoned

Tom_PMs 08-23-2004 06:50 PM

Never set foot in a Starbucks, or any other coffee selling place. Why? Cuz a cup of coffee should cost about 25cents, and should not come in cups big enough to hold 2 liters of liquid, lol.

sickkittens 08-23-2004 06:52 PM

I've honestly never ordered anything from them. I just started drinking iced coffee this summer.

Am I missing out?

baddog 08-23-2004 06:54 PM

I am a recent convert to their venti mochas . . . . not as good as mine, but easier

I don't love or hate them really.. they have decent coffee.. if a little on the pricey side.

Tom_PMs 08-23-2004 06:58 PM

I'm sure it tastes good, since a "cup" must cost around the average persons hourly wage, it freakin better :1orglaugh

ShellyCrash 08-23-2004 06:58 PM

I'm not crazy about starbucks. Because they are a large chain the quality of the employees is equal to the minimum wage worker you find at McDonalds or any other fast food chain, only with a bigger attitude problem. They are always messing up my drink and I seldom get what I pay for. The way these kids cheat you on shots of espresso you think they paid the raw material cost out of their own pockets.

Why I go back? Convenience and lack of options. I don't have alot of time in the day to go somewhere and stand in line, Starbucks is the only drive through espresso place around in sunny hot FL. Krispy Creme makes a damn good coffee, but they are too far out of the way.

Makes me realize how spoiled I was in olympia. :(

infecto 08-23-2004 08:07 PM

I only like it because they are pretty much the only specialty type coffe place around. Everyone else just serves plain old coffe and regular mochas etc which I just can't stand the taste off.

fuzebox 08-23-2004 08:10 PM

I drink a fuckload of coffee... Been to all the big chains, all the little places.... With the exception of a couple of the italian places, Starbucks is by far the best tasting coffee.

I don't go for the weird ass caramel chocolate milkshake stuff they sell though... Just black dark roast, thanks.

I was in California a couple of weeks ago though, and the Starbucks there sucked ass compared to Vancouver. No wonder you guys don't like it, they didn't have any of the roasts they sell up here!

Drake 08-23-2004 08:13 PM

Starbucks is a lot like Krispy Kreme donuts. Overrated.

Good marketing apparently makes people like something they wouldn't care about before.

I prefer less burnt coffee. And for donuts, Krispy Kreme tastes no different than the kind of donuts you get at the local grocery store. I prefer donuts from real donut shops that taste like they've been made their and not bought from a package of donuts in the grocery store. And the coffee is better at donut shops than at Starbucks too, lol.

robfantasy 08-23-2004 08:14 PM

i look at ppl addicted to starbucks the same way i look at people addicted to drugs
