Psychology in the Adult Business
 

Hey guys, I was wondering. Tala and myself are getting degrees in psychology and both of us hope to use them in our work fro the Adult Internet Industry. I believe Tala is going into counseling and I plan on going into Industrial Psychology.

As webmasters, what is your opinion of psychology in the business and where do you think it would be best suited?

I think GFY is a great place to observe human behaviour and personality disorders.

basically GFY is child Psychology moving towards the terrible twos then early teen ( I am a bigger pimp than you ) agression, denial of human emotion both yours and another

women if in sales, play up on the male ego sometimes selling their intergrity to sell product - or the other side - have way too much male testosterone that they are respected out of fear

best way your degree is going to help anyone is for starters the models - then drug addiciton models and webmasters - peer to peer self absorption - then when you've handled all that - work on the surfers who visit and post by being in denial that their own life sucks so much, they have to create a persona on here to make their life worth something.

At one time there were some shrinks who were advising programs when designing tours. They gave info on colors, text, photos, etc.... I saw first hand the effect it had on conversions.

This could be a huge area to profit in.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Indiana University. As being applicable in such a narrow field.. you will need a higher level degree before even being able to break the tip of the iceberg of the "adult" world. My area of expertise, and my graduate thesis, is on resistance to persuasion. if you ever feel like discussing a topic.. or need a tutor... ICQ me...

A higher degree is always useful. I had planned on getting my masters and if I can afford it, my Ph.D.

I do very well in my Psy classes. Most of my teachers are giving me recomendations. I even have a few non-Psy teachers willing to recomend me to graduate schools.

I was a psych major, too! My focus was counseling.

An understanding of common mental patterns and communication patterns has helped me in every job / endeavor I've done. (relationships, too.)

i'm took a few electives in psychology too. the best was psycho pharmacology...LOL
