TGP, 2257, Gallery submitters, and YOU.
I figured one of those topics probably applies to every single person on this forum.
My thing is this.. assuming the new 2257 resolution is adopted, I have about 60 or so galleries floating around out there on various TGPs (hosted on my server of course) that have no 2257 links on them. Of course THE SPONSOR has 2257 links on the tour pages/whatever because i only use reputable companies as sponsors. My point is this. Assuming this resolution is adopted by whomever decides these things, possibly hundreds of thousands of galleries will need to be modified. The ass tickler comes in here: most TGP scripts will delete/ban your galleries if you modify them *especially* if you modify the LINKS on the galleries. I think what we need to do, in the *Interim* is get all of the "Major TGP software" guys together and say look, you need to allow the "addition" of a link with certain parameters, that wont set off your "third-reich delete scheme". Maybe i'm overreacting to this? But I remember one time I had a broken link to sponsor on a gallery and i fixed it, it was like I took a dump on the hood of someone's car or something. My :2 cents: |
For those of us who have been utilizing ssi on their galleries this really isnt going to be a problem at all.

There will have to be an amnesty period... that I'm sure a ton of scammers will take advantage of.

SSI wont prevent the content of your page from changing, I completely miss your point. BMF |
I thought this law only affected galleries published after the law went into place?

Even by the old regs you should have been including a 2257 link in galleries all along. Nobody did this, but if they had then nobody would be worrying about updating and getting banned.
....But TGP's are at least partly to blame for people not having 2257 links. They don't scan the gallery HTML for a link containing the word "2257" to exempt that link from the link count. So it's encouraged every gallery maker to break the law for years. The bottom line though is that it's the gallery maker who didn't include the link by their own choice. So no, TGP's should not have to offer a grace period to change galleries. |
For sure it will get alot of confusion !
