Surely you see the difference between someone in such a situation (or their friends/relatives) dealing with it by, among other things, making jokes about it, and random people posting pictures of that person on a message board as some kind of freak show?

Yup............thats what I thought too since it happend to me with Chemo. Hair fell out in two fuckin weeks. My daughter took the electric clippers and made a checker board outta my hair b4 finally buzzing it all off.:( She was tryijng to make me smile.
