They are both good, you can choose any of them.

crockett 08-22-2004 09:00 PM

fireworks is not a bad program.. but if I had to pick one or the other it would be photoshop... but honestly if you allready know PS FW is pretty easy to learn and it makes doing web graphics pretty easy.

I use fireworks anytime I have to do text work, simply because it has a built in font viewer.. Which PS should have added a few years ago IMO..

I switch between photoshop for detailed graphics work and corel for print work.

reynold 08-22-2004 09:08 PM

demented 08-22-2004 10:13 PM

Photoshop.

TheMob 08-22-2004 10:15 PM

photoshop.

don't even think about considering possibly using fireworks

TexasDreams 08-22-2004 10:36 PM

I've got both, and for designing graphics from scratch FireworksMX is used 99.9% of the time. Easier and quicker to use, better features, and a hell of a lot better ouput quality and optimization. That's MY opinion.

I paid full price for both, and have pretty much written off the expense for photoshop as a total business loss. I have yet to see ANYTHING that would justify photoshop's cost or learning curve. It takes five times as much effort and time to do what I can accomplish with Fireworks with ease in just minutes.

Bottom line is make the choice for getting the job done with the least amount of time and effort. I'd suggest trying both and then sticking with the one YOU are comfortable with. Opinions be damned!

abyss_al 08-23-2004 03:21 AM

its not that different from photoshop...the tools look the same, the short hand keys are the same...you dont have much to learn going from photo to fire

same shit to me... depends on what ur doing though, touching up pix, or web... for web..same, but photo's and really detailed grfx photo :thumbsup :2 cents:

Jakke PNG 08-23-2004 03:23 AM

I have both, but I haven't used fireworks more than once or twice. I hate learning new shit.. I can do everything I want in ps.

julioxp 08-23-2004 05:07 AM

I have used photoshop for years, I think since version 4 or sth like that.. I can recommend it with no problem. In the other hand I have heard about fireworks good things, it's always good to learn a new software, so, you have to decide depending of what you need to do and your skills in both programs.
