Something Like Murder...

Fresh out of the box - one of my new tracks

Check it out:
Something Like Murder

Criminal Eyes and a face as sweet as honeysuckle
Floating away from the slightest wind of change
I told you I loved you, you took it & filed it away
with all your other simple & foolish declarations of love...

Something like murder, the way you?re playing with my heart
I know your motives; it?s still tearing me apart?
You look so pure, babe, but I know that you?re guilty
Something like murder ? the way this love is killing me.

You sell yourself like you?re going out of style
To any friend or stranger - anyone who makes you smile?
Not looking for love, you?re high on drama, flair & savoie faire
You go through lovers like sand sifting down through your hands

Something like murder, the way you?re playing with my heart
I know your motives; it?s still tearing me apart
You look so pure, babe, but I know that you?re guilty
Something like murder ? the way this love is killing me?

thanks bro - I played all the instrumentation as well - but I want to take this & a billion other tracks to a pro studio soon and get a pro guitarist 'cuz I'm tight with the keys & voice but my guitar skillz still ain't the best... :winkwink:

I'm a control freak so I like to do everything myself but you can't do it all, all the time.

:thumbsup

If you played this style, we could jam together. :winkwink:

It's good.

2 quick things:

The phrasing of "declarations of love" especially on the word declarations is weird for me.

Also, the transition to the chorus at that point doesn't fit right (again, for me) like blunt, hurried... needs something to smooth it.

2nd transition to chorus hits better, I don't know if it's the preparation from the first doing that or just the flow at that point.

I'm very sensitive to music, so maybe it won't hit others the same.

Good otherwise, I could easily picture that on the radio or on mtv in the 80's which would make it more than socially acceptable nowadays.

I like the voice too, it's haunting and memorable. Good luck with your music - was my first dream that I've strayed way off course from.

:thumbsup

yea, this is essentially still a demo - I recorded this at my home studio not at like a world-class multimillion dollar recording studio.

I just want to start shopping it around at this point - I used to work in radio so I have a lot of contacts still in the biz.

The transitions would be smoothed out if I was working with a good producer but I think the basic idea of the song is pretty fleshed out.

Also, I want to get a good guitarist and emphasize the heavier side of the song more - make it more Linkin Park and less 80's. Thanks for the critiques - good stuff to think about. :thumbsup

Is it? I just googled it and turned up nothing. I don't listen to much hip hop so I'm completely oblivious to anything Ja Rule is doing. :1orglaugh

I don't know about living the dream - I just got to a point where I had put the music down for a long time to focus on my business - now business is going great - and I do this because I LOVE it.

Even if I don't go and sell a million CDs of my music, fuck it, I love playing and writing songs so I just decided to make it part of my life again, y'know?

Sometimes it's not just about "making it", it's about doing what you love... If other people are into it, all the better. :2 cents:
