how are ppl going with SP2
i am running XP home and already have SP1 installed... im also running norton antivirus and norton firewall...
is there any point now in installing service pack 2? are other people having problems with it...? should i just let the automatic updates do its thing and install it? |
Uninstalled that crap. Fucked with my network and modem settings too much. And thats AFTER running beta versions for months with no problems. :ak47:
|
I'm afraid to install SP2. I'm waiting to hear if anyone is having any big problems after installing it. Anyone installed it yet? Any conflicts with NIS?
|
Why do you want to install that shit if your computer is running stable right now? :helpme
|
I would suggest you wait couple more weeks before installing it . Unless you are in a real rush
|
im still waiting for some good news about it. all I here is bad.
|
yeah me too... all i keep hearing is that it is stuffing up peoples computers and theres alot of fukn around to get running okay... so if your running your own norton protection and have all the critical updates ofr SP1 then is there really no need for SP2 just yet?
|
Uninstalled it 2 days later. Fucked up my PC. Slowed it down way too much. Took me 3 to 5 seconds to open a broser if another browser is already open.
I say wait till it's not in beta. |
SP2 is all about making PC's difficult to mess with from a security standpoint. Microsoft has already posted 50 programs and games that aren't compatible with this upgrade and will not work any more properly. In my book that's fucked up. Why should we have to have any incompatibility issues with a company that nets over $1 Billion a month.
They dropped the ball on their users and now to try and play catchup they are just taking the shortcut way of doing things and doing a near total lockdown. So why upgrade if you aren't having security issues? No way am I going to upgrade all the PC's I deal with and have endless headaches with shit not working right. Forget about it. |
works fine here...

Faster for me. Works better with more things such as SATA drives and I also hear it supports the new SSE3 Pentium instruction set.
It certainly seems much faster than before. |
