Whats your favorite kind of SUSHI?
 

Am I pussy if I say Philly rolls? Other than those, the only thing I'm brave enough for is eel.

avacado rolls. i really only eat it if im taking the woman out. miso soup is the best part.

Sashimi (maguro etc.) and then ebi is good.

See problem is I hate the seaweed paper. So I would be thrilled if people knew of roll options with none of that.

Spicy Tuna Maki is good and pretty tame. On the other hand, I avoid anything that contains eel.

Anyone think a Sushi chef would get all but hurt if I asked about rolls without them having nori sheets? Is there an alernative besides sashimi and things made like ebi?
The rolls have some neat concoctions but that nori makes me wanna gag.

Try Yellow Tail, it is by far the best imo. It's my favorite.

Unagi. Those are my favorite. Used to like Cali Roll but then got sick of it.

Caterpillar is definately a kick ass roll! Unagi is pretty good too, but there's not much adventure in it either. I usually like to get a mix of things and a tall saki. Few things in this world are better then sushi and saki! :eatmouse

Not really a problem at all.

First of all, in Japan, Maki-sushi (rolls), are the exception to the norm. I beleive they were created for card players so they could pick them up without getting the cards messy. The comonplace of sushi rolls is tradionally more of an American/Euro thing.

Nigiri sushi, on the other hand is the most common. It is a piece of fish placed upon a rice ball, generally with some wasabi between them. I think this is what you refer to as "like ebi". Ebi being shrimp, which you probably had nigiri style. Point is, just about all types of fish are served this way, and in my eyes is the best way to eat sushi.

If you get a good sushi chef, he will generally be honored if you just leave what you are served up to him. Just tell him that you do not like nori, and he will leave it out of whatever he makes. This method generally leads to the best, freshest sushi, as he wants to impress you with his skills. And is a nice break for him from being lowered by making california rolls all night. He will keep your plate full until your are done eating.

As a side note, the technically correct way to eat sushi is with your hands!

I also have always eaten them with my hands, I can use chopsticks just fine, but it seemed like the correct way.

I also like crab, tuna, and white fish. Eel is okay, but not really my favorite.

I can eat Eel just fine, as well as almost any type of Sashimi (raw fish).

Most of the time, I have to dunk the sashimi in an abundance of wasabi to mask the raw flavor-- But it's still good stuff.

Miso soup kicks ass though, that stuff is like the soup for the soul.

I would tend to think you also do not like nori like me.

Nah, I can eat seaweed paper-- I don't mind it.

I love the seaweed paper snacks (without the salt seasoning).
