Best Buy Sued By Ohio
 

The Register is reporting that the state of Ohio has sued national electronics retailer Best Buy for misleading customers by repackaging used goods and then selling them as new, and for failing to pay rebate claims. Hmm...repackaging used stuff selling as new? That's new to me...I love shopping for open box items at Best Buy..they always make it apparent on the box that it is not new in all of the stores I've used.

I bought a Sony CD System for almost 50% off paid the warranty and they told me in 2 years right before it expires to bring it in regardless of whether or not something is wrong with it..they'll replace it :)

i used to work at abc warehouse, they used to do it all the time.

Best Buy Sucks Ass according to this site. Never had a real problem with them other than not being able to find someone to take my fucking money a time or 2 :1orglaugh

I have always gotten the rebate back on any items that I have purchased from best buy that had a rebate coming. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones

Bah .. what best buy did and/or does is no different than 99% of the computer manufacturers out there.

Take a look at the box next time you buy a "new computer".

Small sticker tells all .. "this product may contain new or refurbished parts"

I've never had a problem with Best Buy's rebates and I've done quite well wih open box specials and even my wife's laptop was a demo model that I saved $400 on :)

I also use their Zone card and have gotten a bunch of "free" DVD's from it....

I bought a computer from them this summer. I will never ever ever ever make that mistake again. They refused to open up the demo computer for me to see what type of RAM it could take and how much. They assured me that it could take the RAM they sold me at the store at the same time, selected by their people. Of course, it could not. It couldn't seem to take any other sort of additional RAM either, although it has an open slot. Compaq admitted that it was defective. It came out of the box already with weird artifacts like having notepad damaged, as though it had already been used for some unsafe surfing. CompUSA refused to take it back. They never paid the rebate. Anyone know of watchdog state type organizations to notify in California?

and when you need support you will be reminded that you paid 399 for that PC

I have had serveral non payed rebates. The only way to get the money is to call them.

I love the Zone card....I was at Best Buy the other day because I prepaid for Doom3 and I lost the receipt....the girl in customer service was looking through the computer and she said..."Dear God."

I thought something happened so I asked her what's wrong she replied...

"you don't shop here often do you?"
