Anyone had their car stolen before?

Woke up this morning to drive to work and had nothing waiting for me on the driveway. Anyone else have this happen before?

asuna 08-20-2004 09:09 AM

sucky, what kind of car?

cool1 08-20-2004 09:10 AM

Ya had that happen to me twice.

both times I got the car back damaged and my insurance covered the damage on the first one.
they wrote the second one off and gave me back more bucks than I origanally paid for it.

So it wasn't that bad for me.

Was at a gas station in my small (at the time) town and some HS kids who were running away jumped in and took off when I was paying for gas. Yes, I had the keys in it - like I always did :)

They drove it to Colorado where they ran a red light and tried to outrun the police and crashed it. If they hadn't run that redlight, who knows if they would ever have been caught.

It happened in such a small town it took them 30+ days to get someone to bring it back and by then I had already bought a new car.

Funny thing was that I treat my cars like crap - never wash them inside or out. They cleaned that baby up :)

Firehorse 08-20-2004 11:11 PM

That sucks! :(

My car was stolen about 18 years ago. It was brand new and had a few thousand damage when it was recovered.

eroswebmaster 08-20-2004 11:14 PM

The last couple of years before my mother passed away she wasn't good with cars...LOL always banging against a curb or a pole etc...so her car gets stolen and they find it like 6 months later...seriously..anyway we go to claim it and the guy working the yard looks at it and he's like..."damn they tore it up."

The car was in the exact same condition my mother left it in. :1orglaugh

im assuming you've called the police..

ive known a few people who have had their cars stolen.. half the time its just a buncha teenagers who steal it to go joyriding then abandon it somewhere.

i dont see how much could be made off a 96 jeep cherokee at a chop shop, i dont even really see that many of them at the junk yard.

my thoughts are the police will find your car in another city somewhere, but you might need some transmission work done when they find it :2 cents:

badmunchkin 08-20-2004 11:34 PM

yea, a bunch of joyriding teenagers who abandoned it and stole the stereo. The first thing I did when I bought my new car was install an alarm system. You can't fuck around when you live in the city.

had a car and 2 motorcycles (1949 and 1942 H-D's) stolen (3 different times) - got the car back, bikes were never seen again

dont motorcycles have an anti-theft feature that makes the thing sway back and forth.. to make it nearly impossible to ride on?

or is that with only specific models?

well, I have never heard of that, but I am sure that in 1942 and 1949 it was not an option . . . . besides, I highly doubt the bikes were ridden away . . .more likely rolled into the back of a truck, taken to a garage and torn apart for parts
