Where are all the young female webmasters?
 

There are TONS of guys my age building and running sites, doing galleries, etc. Where are the chicks? Why aren't there any?!

Depends on how anti-social I'm feeling. I've learned not to promise anything. I was guilt-tripped into agreeing to come down Saturday, then I couldn't get money or buy gas Friday eve since my bank closed early and the gas stations ran out. So I drank beer, sta back and enjoyed Hurricane Charley :)

Sly_RJ - I see your point, you're looking for the younger ones. Well quite frankly, I think most of the ones entering this business at that age are brought in by their boyfriends or another girlfriend either as models or sales reps. How many 18 year old girls would rather work alot of hours everyday in front of a computer? I don't think many unless they see the big picture.

And it isn't just a geek thing. I've met several of the younger guys around here and there are many more good looking guys than bad.

Hey, we're about the same age! My bday is Sept 1, you? BTW, don't use this as an opportunity to mock my site; there's nothing you can say about it that I don't already know. I'm new at this, as if you can't tell!

MOST women will not outwardly say they like porn, it is still tabboo and there is still social stigma and dogmatic mindset to get over. The party girls will scream about how much they love it but typically the "classier" or closet freak chics are not going to take any outward interest in this industry and will often show distaste for all those in it, I know you have met the type.

The lifetyle of the typical 21 year old female is not going to be sitting behind a computer doing this, check some email, buy some things yes, learn the trade, talk to people, log long hours and socialize with a bunch of guys that will disrespect and/or hound them....no.

There have been lots of articles about the lack of interest women are pushed to have in electronics, math, science and business, of course it is slowly becoming more popular so maybe we will see more, tech savy/business women coming in.

Start asking 21 year old females if they want to become web mistresses and see what they tell you, if they do not just walk away or take a swing at you for being a "perv"

Well, I',m pretty young, and I'm a real webmaster not model/content and pretty hot even if I do say so myself...

But I am not interested in dating anyone from this board or anyone in real life for that matter, I much prefer to be single and alone since I've had it with men.

I also don't have to "post pics" of myself on GFY or "show my tits" to prove it, because I'm not a model trying to lure webmasters to promote my site/affiliate program, and I'm not a "sales rep" for some sponsor trying to suck webmasters in by "being cute" and posting stupid pics on message boards. I work for myself so I don't have to kiss anyone's ass and I don't give a fuck what anyone thinks about me!

Not true, I am very classy, not promiscuous and I sell porn, I don't thnk it's taboo, and I started in my early 20's...

True about socializing with a bunch of guys of that will hound me though, I have never gone to a function because I'm pretty sure I would get disrespected because I am young and look like I could "pass for content"...

Also, I have spoken with some folk from GFY on the phone but that's about all...

As for "young", I think I started when I was 23, I just turned 26 but I am "young" ... trust me.. I can pass for 18 and I am still in college... So I socialize with young people and "really" look the part... People always think that I am 19 or 20... No one believes me when I tell them my age... I'm pretty immature for my age and still very very young at heart...

There are more of us than you think> I've been in the online biz since I was about 25-26. Before that, I was just doing porn in a different format (still behind the camera). I'm not a sales rep and I've never felt the need to post my pics for GFY approval or whatever. I do my thing (text, free sites, marketing rep) and I let my work speak for myself. If someone gets to know me, they do it because they like me, not because I whored my pics on GFY. :)

That said, I disagree with phogirl. I'd date another webmaster. They're regular people just like us and at least you have something in common to talk about when you get in bed at night.

If I remember correctly, you refuse to drive on the highways. And again if I remember correctly, you live in Los Angeles. Thats quite the fear to have in Los Angeles.

If I were to date, ofcourse I would date a webmaster, but not
content/ a webmaster that starrs in his own site or bangs talent, they would just have to be strictly a "webmaster" and stay behind the pc and be "hands-off".

No, I got over that fear, I drive on the freeways all the time now! I only refused to drive on the fwy after someone I knew died and got run over on the fwy , and the accident was very traumatic, this person died horribly and lost limbs.... It just traumatized me for awhile. But I got over it and I drive freeways all the time now... I just drive very slowly :1orglaugh
