Now THAT is funny! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Right now, I think that the US is keeping the Euro strong and the Dollar weak as much as they can. The French and Germans were trying to convert oil prices from dollars to the euros (thus their support for Saddam Hussain), but it didn't work. With the Euro as high as it is, it is keeping that change from occurring. Unfortunately for Europe, it is also killing european exports and trade balances, which is why unemployment in most EU countries is now up at 10% or more, as compared to the US figures of 5.3%

sperbonzo 08-19-2004 12:43 PM

Having said all that....as the French and Germans back away from the attempt to convert petrodollars to petroeuros, the Euro will get weaker again and the EU will be in better shape economically

tranza 08-19-2004 12:44 PM

US dollar is going up over here... I´m happy!! :glugglug

monster310 08-19-2004 12:46 PM

Too late to jump out of dollars now. The time to do that was 2 years ago. Your best bet is to keep your dollars and wait for a dollar rally (we had a small one 2 weeks ago).

There is a good change the dollar will rally after the November elections but no way is the dollar goina anywhere near to be back on par with the Euro any time soon.

Manowar 08-19-2004 12:48 PM

yep, it sucks when converting dollars into GBP at the moment. I can feel your pain
