Americans should ditch the $1 bill

Loonies are the way to go man. I hate having so many bills when I go down there.

GatorB 08-19-2004 07:10 AM

We can't even ditch the penny even though it's useless nowadays.

candyflip 08-19-2004 07:11 AM

We have $1 coins. No one likes to use them though.

I'd rather have a pocket fill of $1 bills than a pocket full of oversized $1 coins.

Basic_man 08-19-2004 07:11 AM

Mouhahaha, here in Canada we have INTERACT that we can use ANYWHERE !

That's so fuckin' nice! I never get bills in my wallet ! :thumbsup

TheWildcard 08-19-2004 07:12 AM

I love coins. They're the shizit.

I've never used one, but good luck with it. It sounds good!

XxXotic 08-19-2004 07:18 AM

fuck loonies man, bust out the toonies! :thumbsup

GatorB 08-19-2004 07:28 AM

Exactly how does one give a stripper a $1 coin? I mean where do you put it?

mardigras 08-19-2004 07:29 AM

The Susan B. Anthony dollars were a disaster because they were often confused with quarters. The Sacagawea was an improvement because of the color but I've seen less of those than I did when the SBA coins came out. People must be collecting them rather than spending them. I think stores have resisted dollar coins because they would have to replace all of their cash drawers.

really. I though they only made those in 1976. Anyways why would I tip a stripper $2?

Yeah but that's another denomination that has been held back most likely due to merchants resisting them. They'd have to get a bigger cash register to hold the bigger drawer with 2 extra sections for dollar coins and $2 bills.

they stopped making the Sacagawea dollar a couple of years ago due to lack of people using them. dollar coins would save the US moeny since bills have to be replaced avery 18 months and coins last 30 years.

Roald 08-19-2004 07:36 AM

I am having a big can of coins over here as I hate to have 'm in my wallet.

since the euro got introduced we got 1 and2 cent coins wich are totally useless. Wonder how many more years before they ditch those.

LOL good point, you want to save the money so you can stay longer, if you giving the stripper 2 dollar bills, you can only be there half as long hahaha

That Interac system is shitty compared to what the US and almost every other country seems to have. Visa Check Cards and Mastercard Check Cards are waaaay better than that Interac system Canada has.

Canada doesn't have check cards.

and yes, the US does have $1 coins already.

BradM 08-19-2004 08:00 AM

brisk... I heart interac.

visa check cards are the same thing as a visa isn't it?? The only difference is that you have to punch in a PIN right?

I like knowing that I can shop w/o getting charged an interest rate everytime that I buy something using my bank card.:)

tranza 08-19-2004 08:12 AM

I like the $1 bills...

Visa Check Cards aren't the same as Visa. It's not credit. A Visa Check Card is attached to you bank account and when you buy something it just takes the money out of your bank account.

Buy something for $20 and it takes $20 out of your bank account. But here's the real advantage....you can use them anywhere Visa is accepted worldwide, including the Internet.

Try buying something online or in another country using Interac. You can't.

Oh, and Visa Check Cards don't have interest. They aren't credit cards.

Manowar 08-19-2004 08:15 AM

all the pimp 16 year olds with handfuls of cash, then you look closer and they are $1 bills :1orglaugh

pornstar2pac 08-19-2004 08:50 AM

I just threw away all my $1's happy now?

Exactly. If we're going to make an effort to get rid of something, pennies have GOT to be the first to go.

Peaches... are you stalking me? Because if you are I am very turned on.

All my interac cards are multi network.. I can buy shit off the internet with them as well.

For example.. my bank card is Interac / Acculink / Cirrus / Maestro (the last 2 are mastercard I think..) so they work just like a check card.

BradM 08-19-2004 12:02 PM

MAYBE... god can only hope confucy died in a fire?

You might have multiple features on your card, but it isn't the Interac that is enabling you to buy things online or in other countries, it's the other features.

Interac is an inferior system.
