Spam
What are most of the sponsership program's rules against spamming search engines? Is it ok?
Seems like e-mail, IRC is bad. But was curious about the search engines. Thanks- |
You ever stop to think that the Search Engines don't like being spammed?

I'm not doing it at all. I've just seen a lot of sites doing it and was wondering if it was against TOS. That's all.

Email the sponsors. I'm sure each will have different rules.

Name me 1 person that likes to be spammed..
If I decided to post your email addy on all the ffa pages out there, would you like it? Didnt think so. So why would ANYONE like SPAM? THINK!!! Balljoints |
Talk a walk down any street in America ...Walk 2 blocks & see how many freaking ads pop up in your face "EXIT HERE!" "TITTY BAR 2 Miles Ahead!" "PEPSI 99-Cents a 6-pack!"
This is america, so quit your whining lil girls =)D Hehehe...but yea e-mail spam sux. |
I agree. Spam sucks. I don't do it.
But my question is, do any sponsers you know of NOT payout on it. Everyone hates it, but my guess is that few don't pay. I guess because it's "good" traffic. The whole point of my question was I'm tired of seeing spam and was thinking if all the major players refused to allow such a thing, the search engines would be sooooooooo much cleaner. I know, I know. Utopia. |
As far as I have seen, most sponsors seem to encourage it rather than be against it. it depends on what you mean by spamming SEs too, I think. Getting hits to a porn site on words like 'chocolate' and 'books' could be considered spamming. And so could submitting doorway pages.
On the subject of SEs, I was reading the terms of a banner exchange where it says: "Because we don't have the time to perform a thorough investigation of each web site that applies for CBX membership, we rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us." I think that could be the new way 4ward for over-spammed SEs: Just rely on the Holy Spirit to determine what's spam http://bbs.gofuckyourself.com/board/wink.gif |
The thing is that one man's spam is another's SEO - there's no clear cut definition for SEs of what qualifies and what doesn't. Plus SE traffic converts (obviously) and it doesn't bring the heat or the antis that email spamming does (except for the odd incensed blog owner hehe).
