no it didnt, and it never will....

im a pc gaming fan myself over console... the thing is, console is better when you wanna play witha bunch of friends in the same room, - at least without lugging your pc to a lan party.

:2 cents:

i saw these guys at E3. they had a cool setup, but i don't believe this is ever going to launch.

Should do as well as X-Box live, how many of you have that? :1orglaugh

Triple 6 08-18-2004 05:10 PM

the demo vid is such an amateur pos production....

this system is gonna blow.

evildick 08-18-2004 05:12 PM

That thing will never launch, and if it does, it will fail miserably.

On Demand games are definitely the future.

This company has a unique approach. Free hardware, including the console, keyboard and controller but they make you sign up for a 2 year commitment at 30 bucks a month.

So it's a $700 console, but you'll have new games the day they come out without having to leave the house.

Time will tell :2 cents:

msft is going to be doing this as well. their media center OS is aimed at taking control of the entire entertainment center in your house. music, movies and games on demand.

Triple 6 08-18-2004 05:25 PM

well i watched the rest of the vid

REAL pc gamers would never get such a thing... they are aiming for console gamers who wanna get a taste of pc gaming, without the pc, lol. But a hardcore PC gamer would not want to be tied down to a specific set of hardware... they want the option to upgrade different parts or get an all new system together - and ofr course, take their games with them. You cant do any of that with this Phantom shit.

And its all subscription based. So its not like your friends can bring THEIR games over without taking their whole system I suppose - unless they have a feature where you can setup a guest account and have them download whatever games they already own.

Console gaming is far from dead. I'm pretty sure over 25 million PS2s have been sold and XBox is trailing close behind.

Console gaming is the future. PC gaming is what's on the way out.

if anything - pc and counsole will seamlessly unite, thats what i think anyway. When a pc can have a good fighting game, then i will say counsole is out.

i think there will be a PC-based console that emulates both the xbox and play station. some kid's already built an xbox emulator.

Consoles will never be out.

A high end gaming computer costs $2000+

An XBox costs as little as $119 (refurbished)

Consoles will become entertainment centers. I already have a few XBoxes here at home that do just this. This is the future.

Consoles are now getting pumped up ports of PC games (see Call of Duty)

While PCs are getting dumbed down ports of console games (see Spiderman 2)
