Just got done playing Doom III
 

for like an hour or two.

What a fantastic game!

I wasnt all that impressed

I played for an hour and uninstalled it..

Apparantly you need an ungodly system to really enjoy it.
My brother decided to buy an ATI Radeon 9600 just so he could play it, and it still doesn't run good. I also have 512 DDR, but only a 1300 cpu.
Would be a much better game if I could actually get more than 2fps.

It's great for 1 or 2 hours then you realize the gameplay never changes.

I got to the point where you get the chaingun and lost interest after that.

I don't think it has bombed. I think they had like 2 million preorders for it before it even shipped.

doom3 is fucking annoying because every 5 seconds an imp thing somehow gets behind you and starts scratching your ass

Nice engine, but game is not the best ... To walk in the dark all the time. Most stupid thing is that you have to switch flashlight/gun all the time.
Even I would be able to hold flashlight in the left hand and gun in the right.
In doom 3 you're walking with some us soldier which is able just to beat zombies with flashlight :Graucho

the beginning of doom III was a complete ripoff of the half life beginning , i was really dissapointed in the originality. science project gone bad, come on. i swear they even stole a few lines from the script.

also, with all the cool shit you can do with direct X, why did they go with opengl ? lets see where did i put my voodoo 3d add in card.... :helpme I bet they spent half the time rewriting all the cool shit you can do in directx 9 for opengl. now there are some cool things like the way things look thru glass / plastic and the lighting effects do kick ass.

PIV 3000 with 1 GB of memory and 9600 video 128 mb of ram it is minimum for nice playing.
